I'm a dirty, filthy liar

But that's besides the point. New Misfits was tonight, waiting till I get my hands on a download before I try to give a long review, but the basics are:

Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt.

Seriously, it was perfect. Given Alisha is my favorite character I was so pleased with this ep going into her backstory via her past with Rudy. It was awesome and I feel for both of them.I get most people's sympathies will immediately lie with Rudy but I don't find Alisha particularly at fault there. It was cold but it happens.

His speech in the bar though was all sorts of heart-pulling amazing. And this all led to such a sweet moment between Simon/Alisha and good lord, if there was ever a doubt they are my OTP for life it was washed away with that scene.

I' really digging Kelly's new power and her new hair do. The queen looks fabulous and it makes so much sense that she would choose being a Rocket Scientist as her power. She got the telepathy due to her insecurity about the way others perceive her and then she now chooses a power that signifies intelligence due to that very same insecurity. Overman said that Curtis and Kelly are going to have interesting stories this year and my wish for her is that she goes beyond the painfully obvious Seth/Kelly story-line (though I think that would be hot) and that her arc focuses more on her finally learning to not let the way others perceive her affect her so much. For someone who has such a tough outer shell she is incredibly fragile and while I do think she is a strong, survivor type character I worry about her emotional health. It would be so easy to break her, to hurt her and gods that makes me so concerned.

Cutris' power. Well, I'm conflicted. It's interesting and I like what we've seen so far about him loosening up and getting out of his shell BUT it fucking sucks that it is going to cut down on NSJ's screentime. On the other hand, one of the things I was irrationally worried about when I found out about his power (spoilers) was the actress who would portray him (not to get too political but there are issues with Black women overwhelmingly being assigned masculine stereotypes) and I'm ... content with the choice so far. It was a good casting choice looks wise and I guess we'll see more next episode.

I don't know if I'm going to be as active in fandom this year and not just due to the fact that I'm so much busier this year but the S/A backlash is really getting to me. Especially since most detractors single out their dislike for Alisha as one of the reasons for it. And it kills me when they say she hasn't grown or changed and they "don't get it". Are we watching the same show, really?
