20 pieces of personal canon for SGA- the Teyla-centric version
1) Teyla was not an only child.
I swicth back and forth on whether she had a twin brother or a yonger brother. Either way the sibling is dead.
2) Teyla blames herself for her fathers death.
Teyla's dad has died numeros ways in my head. Hunting accident. Wraith attack. Bandits. And in every time his death could have been prevented if Teyla was there with him.
3) Teyla today is drastically changed from the Teyla of her youth.
Sometimes there is just such a vast amount of sadness reflected in Teyla's eyes that it makes me wonder at what she has lost, and how those losses have changed and shaped her.
4) Teyla doesn't want children at this point in her life.
It is the reason that her relationships in the past have ended and one of the reasons she is shying away from a relationship with John.
5) Teyla is afraid to enter into a romantic relationship with John.
John wants more than friendship and more than sex and that scares Teyla.
6) Teyla has already had the great love of her life.
7) Teyla has an insatiable sweet tooth.
8) Teyla is incredibly tickilish.
9) Teyla can speak, read and write in multiple laguages.
The whole 'Teyla in uneducated/illiterate' thing really bugs me. Because even if she weren't the elected leader of her people, she was still the daughter of a leader and thus sent to be eduacted and mingle with the other offspring of leaders. Also, she is the leader of a people who are heavily dependant on trade. And not all trading contracts are purely oral.
10) Teyla sees the expedition as a means to an end.
It doesn't mean that she isn't fond of some of the members, it is just that she isn't there to make friends and hang out. Her ultimate goal is to rid Pegasus of the wraith, by any means necessary. The expedition is the one most capable of doing so. As proven by The Return when the Genii where the ones with the biggest guns, she'll work with whoever in order to achieve her goal.
11) Teyla will never abandon her people.
I just can't see her doing it for any reason and certainly not because of a romantic relationship.
12) Teyla has killed with her bare hands before and does not feel guilty about it.
I can't remeber which episode it was in, but we've seen Teyla snap someone's neck. Plus even if when she is sparring she only disarms, it doesn't mean she doesn't know how t deliver death blows. Additionally, I can't see Teyla killing without reason and given her 'do what you gotta do' approach to everything, I can't see her getting guilty about it.
13) Teyla is more plugged into the wraith psychic network than she lets on.
14) In additon to the reasons for not wanting children that I outlined in my fic here she doesn't want to pass on her "gift" to her offspring.
15) Teyla is bisexual.
And she found this out when her lover's sister propositioned her and glady accepted.
16) Teyla hates talking about her mother.
Because it was very painful for her father and because every one says that she looks/acts so much like her.
17) Teyla sometimes thinks about what would have happened if she had never met the Terrans. If she had never met John Sheppard. Sometimes she thinks she would be happier. Sometimes.
18) As much as she loves her team, if the choice ever came to them or her people, she wouldn't hesitatate to choose her people.
19) Teyla's favorite color is blue.
20) Teyla is just a little bit in love with each of her team-mates.
