Weird city that I've never heard of before? Check!
I’m totally trapped here no matter which way I go? Check!
These are all the signs of a story where interesting things happen, how perfect! The hero is spirited away to mysterious place and goes on an exciting adventure, that's how stories like in manga and anime start. This is what I’ve been waiting for, an escape from the regular high school life and to finally get that call to adventure that was part of my destiny all along! I may have had to wait for three years, but finally I can begin my journey!
I know I was chosen because of my important position as commander of the SOS Brigade. Of course they would want someone who knows all about mysterious events and is well versed in the area. I’d be a big help in any sort of strange happenings seeing as while I am Brigade Chief, I am also an Ultra Detective. My skills are going to be needed here!
So everyone out there, listen up! If you want to be saved, it's vital you tell me everything you know about this city. In order to get information on how to beat the boss, you need to get information from the NPCs in the town. That's how this works.

[A. Walking around all the neighborhoods and slapping a notice on everyone's door and shoving the same flyer into the hands of everyone she passes by. Unfortunately, as a high school student, the writing is very poor and the only words that can be clearly seen in English are "SOS Brigade". But she's looking at you rather expectantly, just waiting to for you to ask "What is the SOS Brigade".]

[Outside 1669 Nelson Street, Haruhi is sitting outside on the front lawn, cutting all of her skirts to a much more modern length. This wouldn't be so odd if she weren't sitting outside, casually doing her work in only her underclothes.]
Ugh, the outfits in this town are so lame! You're never going to get any attention that way, no wonder no one has been rescued. Don't they know anything about how sex appeal works?
[C. She's climbed to the roof of her house in the evening and is looking out over the town of Mayfield. She crosses her arms and looks around expectantly]
Uh hello! People running this town! I've issued you a challenge as great leader of the SOS-Dan and I'm waiting for your response!
[She waits for a bit. Before looking extremely sulky]
...This sucks, I can't believe nothing's happened yet! I would have had better luck in a fantasy setting. I really hate long prologues and tutorials!
