http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Man_%28film%29is the best I can do regarding the movie; to be honest all the information on Tony Stark is saturated with comic information. If you'd like something comprehensive I can try to write something up myself, otherwise I can give you links with information that won't be entirely movie related.
Canon Point: Post the first movie, pre the second.
Gender: Male
Age: 35
Birthdate/Sign: ARIES, I'm sure Tony has a birthday somewhere in the comics but as for the movies, he had a birthday sometime when it wasn't winter and that doesn't lend to very much at ALL (unless you assume his birthday in the movie is supposed to take place sometime when it was released which was May SO IT'D ONLY BE OFF BY LIKE A MONTH........) so I'm going to go with what fits his personality. It helps that the metal is iron okay. It's fate.
Tattoo: A sizable Aries tattoo on his right inner forearm. I think he'll find it distasteful tbh and would've wished it to be somewhere else, so this'll make him confront it because unless he's wearing long sleeves it won't be totally covered. He'll be pissed. :| I figure it'll become somewhat of a fixation either way because it's not something he consented to (though he'll probably be very aware there are a lot of things in his life he hasn't exactly consented to and suffers them without a second thought) etc etc. Tattoo fixation yep.
Suitability: n/a.
Power: Tony is entirely human, only smart. I was going to have his power be having an incredibly toned down version of his suit (think the suitcase suit from IM2) but I have decided that being gifted a proper power from the universe ultimately lends to a lot more fun. As he's an Aries, I'd like to request Maniplation (Calling Flame) cause c'mon warm hands is sexy ):
I did worry about his Arc Reactor which I wasn't sure if would count as a power since it solely exists to keep him alive-- tbh, even if the gods/world could heal the whole shards of metal in his body thang, I'd like to request he still have it and still be dependent on it because I feel that vulnerability is vital to his characterization. I wouldn't personally consider it a power as he made it himself with technology existing in his world (though according to Cap's movie it may be crazy Asgard power BUT YOU KNOW) but should you choose that as his power over him being gifted one, I'll understand. BUT LISTEN I REALLY FIND FIRE SEXUAL IT'LL BE OKAY I'LL USE IT FOR GOOD ): ): ):
Personality:
Tony is a lot of obvious things. For the most part, he's insanely egotistical. This stems from an unchallenged intelligence that has let him pretty much accomplish everything he has (himself) wanted to accomplish. He graduated college years before everyone else, he inherited the weapons manufacturing company that was his birthright and did so with a kind of innovation that put him on the map and he has sucked in every single bit of his celebrity and worn it proudly. He likes attention, he likes being satisfied and he likes, most of all, being Tony Stark.
And then, he's a womanizer. This comes from his getting what he wants when he wants it-- he sees a woman he wants, he has her. He is pretty damn charming, though I figure he'll be more offensive in a world where he's not nearly as well known. This easy charm has also lead to a lot of extravagance that has never been hindered by parents or money. His mother more or less is implied to be dead in the movie and they make it all too clear in the first that Obidiah Stane was essentially his father figure while his own dad was too busy working on Stark Industries. There's a reserved bitterness about it all in the second movie implying that it does bother him under that unaffected mask but he buries it and ignores it under the weight of budding alcoholism. Of course, that's not the only thing that bothers him (to that point) but it is one thing.
And behind all the fireworks and unnecessary displays is a man who has misguided good-will. He comes off abrasive and is generally a jerk to everyone he meets, but he's also a jerk with his heart in the … general vicinity of being in the right place. His dialogue from the first movie implies he's legitimately surprised to see that the weapons he developed were being sold under the table. Tony played fair, just like his dad. He didn't deal dirty. And when he came back, he could've swept it under the rug and went on his merry way but he decided to step up and set things right, distressed to see that what he created to protect the American people was being turned around and used against them (though you could argue that's fairly naïve as weapon's are designed in all cases to hurt someone but you know). This is when he designs the new suit, weaponizes it and takes down the terrorist cell that is attacking a man he came to know as his friend. Hell, he immediately decides to stop all weapon production from a company built on their weapons manufacturing (though they did/do other things that keep it afloat) solely because he feels that's what is right to keep America (and maybe more importantly himself) safe.
Tony is vindictive, however. Not all that good will and heroic bravado comes from a place of selflessness. He wants his own security, he want his own notoriety and he wants things to go his way, pretty much always (which is why you could argue he was so reluctant to join the avengers when he was first offered-- he doesn't like to share the spot light and he doesn't want to be part of a team or something that'll hinder his doing what he wants when he wants it). The 'incident' in Afganistan definitely changes his way of approaching certain things but it did not change the core of him. It really, you could argue, only changed his perspective about the things he never thought to consider before like the future of his plans, the consequences of his actions.
He's quick to bite back, quick to defend himself and quick to cut someone down if they rub him the wrong way. He has a sharp tongue fueled by a massive amount of self-assurance and is witty enough to get away with it most of the time. His jabs and insults tend to carry a sarcastic, nearly cynical tone-- it's a very specific way of speaking, ONE YOU COULD SAY IS PARITCULARLY ROBERT DOWNEY JR LIKE....... but you know who's comparing. :I This shapes how he talks to people though and generally how people receive him. Those who know him don't take his bullshit most of the time and those who know his celebrity are generally charmed against their will. He's also notorrrriously thoughtless and pretty much relies on Pepper to keep his affairs in order-- down to her ordering her own birthday presents lmfao.
I figure it boils down to him being a self-assured, confident asshole with the smarts and money to back up his talk, even if his talk is total bullshit. With a pinch of dysfunction and damage. Everyone loves those kinds of people whether they want to or not.
It should be said that Tony is a fairly reserved person when it comes to personal matters but incredibly brash and willing to flaunt things he deems as worthy of the public. This is why he outs himself as Iron Man (he wants the validation/adoration) but says nothing of his personal life/of what happened in Afghanistan to anyone that doesn't already know. Even then, he'd be hard pressed to reveal any personal feelings or details. So he may say outlandish things about himself-- most probably true and can be fairly forthcoming with things that are wayyyy tmi or just trivial but he keeps some very private things on lockdown and very, very few people if any will have access to those things. Expect a lot of dismissing and mildly said sarcasm if you try to get him to talk about how he really feels about anything. He's not above snapping though and has shown to in highly stressful situations-- such as losing his shit and practically destroying his house at his birthday party in the second movie because he can't handle anything anymore and just gets beyond wasted.
He's flawed and very human, when you get down to it. His super hero status never came from inherent powers or things given to him-- everything, essentially, he has accomplished was the result of (some privilege and) him actually going out and doing things himself. He's an asshole, but really, he's an asshole with some walk behind his talk. He's earned his rights, so to speak and paid most of his dues.
✖ SAMPLES:
"Zodion" First-Person Network Entry:
[ It takes a few tries for the screen to come on steadily, revealing a harried looking and disgruntled Tony Stark. There's an unhappy tension to the shape of his mouth, to his eyes which are focused sharply-- like this device is the only thing that matters. He doesn't say anything for a moment, maybe not realizing it's on properly or maybe just biding his time as he tries to fiddle with it's controls, which seem to get him no where. Finally, he speaks: ]
You know, I watched LOST. I liked it, I was loyal, but I never really considered living it.
[ he pauses, glances down to the tattoo on his wrist-- out of the camera's eye, but his distaste for it isn't held back, though it's not disgust, just an absent look of dissatisfaction. ]
Never thought I'd get inked either. I mean, the least you could do is let me choose. I was thinking, you know, [ a meaningless gesture with his hands, as if marking the size of what it would be, those paying attention would get a look of that tattoo now ] a skull with a rose. On fire-- on the small of my back, of course, that's where all respectable tattoos go. But I guess the birth sign works, I can totes get into my first pick sorority now.
[ and then he remembers the note, which makes noise as he grasps it up again, glances over it like he hasn't already a thousand times and he's muttering now maybe to himself, maybe to the audience he hopes is on the other side. It was too depressing to think he might be utterly alone speaking to himself. ]
Thanks for this, too. I mean, I knew that, but it's always nice hearing it--
[ there's his attention again, the camera shifts as he moves the device to get a better shot of himself. The subtle glow of the arch reactor is
muffled by the fabric of his shirt but still there, despite feeling fairly lost without the familiarity of his world and his technology (not to mention the nagging thought that he just might have been kidnapped again and this wasn't just a crazy dream) he manages to say in that fairly nonplussed way of his, like this is simply an inconvenience. ]
Listen, I don't know who you are or why you've brought me here-- or why you're using such painfully primitive technology, but
I have a date back home and I can't afford to miss it. So chop chop, let's wrap this up, shall we? Playtime over.
"Zodionlogs" Third-Person Prose Entry:
He wakes up on his back, the ground hard beneath him and the sensation alone is enough to squeeze the air out of his lungs. He spent far too many nights sleeping on hard, cold ground that for a terrifying moment Tony is afraid it had all been a dream, that he's back in that damn cave praying to whatever god would hear him that his madman's plan would work-- that he'll live, survive. The memory of Yinsen has become distant as time has passed but he feels him now, even if he can't remember entirely what he looked like. He would urge him to get up, to not be afraid, not anymore.
Alright, Tony thinks, I'll get up.
But it's not Afghanistan's barren waste beneath him, it's warm and bright here-- unusual. He's aware for the first time, he thinks, that he knows he's dreaming while it's happening. It gives this place a different glow to see it as that-- his own, his creation (and he's privately impressed by his own subconscious creativity, not realizing how very wrong he is). He takes in every strange bush, notes the height and size of the pillars before him, the decoration on the circle there-- and the altar. Tony has never been particularly religious, never intimately or openly, and the thought that in some dark recess of his mind lays an altar of his own creation intrigues him, though a dread settles in his belly he's far too eager to ignore.
But more than the alter, that box intrigues him further. Pandora's box, he muses, approaching thoughtlessly, no hesitation, no falter, beelining straight for it. And then it hits him, the pain in his arm, the sudden rush of water upward, surrounding him, encasing him and though it's his reflection before him-- it frightens him in a way he doesn't understand. The mark glows bright and red on his arm and he covers it like it shames him, like he no longer wants to see it bright against his bare skin. And like that, the waters fall and he's alone with himself, though Tony is quick to peel back his shirt sleeve, praying-- praying-- that there's nothing there, that this all means nothing and he'll wake up and have a coffee and forget all about the twisting in his stomach but it is. It's not glowing now, but it's there.
It's only then in the corner of his eye that he sees the glow diminish from around the box-- that stupid box he'd wanted so bad moments before. And though he spites it for tricking him, he approaches it and cautiously lifts the lid. A letter? And (what he assumes is) a phone. How... quaint. Tony inspects the phone first-- technology always took precedent after all-- and finding it fairly useless for what he wanted it for (no cool apps, either, jeez) he then makes for the letter, reading it once and then twice more because he's sure he's read this wrong.
"Time to wake up," he says aloud to himself-- the first time he's remembered speaking openly like that to himself, in a dream. But he doesn't wake up and that dread from before sits like a rock on his chest. He reads the letter once more-- It is our great pleasure and honor to welcome you to Zodion. For your [whatever word the gods would choose for shapely derriere], you have been chosen from among all the times and galaxies to aid us-- and feels a frustrated anger rise. If Fury had anything to do with this-- anything-- he would wring his fucking neck and shove an titanium alloy boot up his smug ass.
Tony eyes the phone again and flicks the screen back on, thumbing the camera option. Someone was going to send him home whether they liked it or not.
