Brandawg had to go and post about Lost and the new theory relating to it that was published in the most recent issue of Entertainment Weekly. Naturally this has prompted me to come out of LJ hibernation to add my two cents worth

I think the catch-all that the EW theory may hinge upon is that Ghost Aaron is a pop culture sponge. Many of the books on the island have had themes and symbols that relate back to the island. For instance, Watership Down is about a bunch of wayward rabbits who, in an attempt to find a new home, happen upon a group of ruthless super rabbits that attempt to mold the newcomers towards their way of thinking. Ghost Aaron, in exerting his influence over the island, also seems to have a penchant for comic books and Charlton Heston sci-fi flicks. And what's the most read book ever and one that's come up thanks to the heavy religious leanings of Adebisi and the hobbit? It's the Bible.
I think a lot of Ghost Aaron's influence stems from him "reading" the other people on the island, too. He can create many of the situations on the island by drawing upon the past experiences of these new people. In fact, part of another theory I read has stated that the island itself is rewriting the inhabitant's memories which is why everyone else keeps popping up in the flashbacks. It could be that Ghost Aaron is doing the rewriting or he started manipulating these things a few years ago once he became whatever he is now.
