And one more thing upon canon review, along the same lines of Cain's fail when it comes to expressing what he really feels. He gets kind of embarrassed when it comes down to it, like with his tenderness for Riff and Merry. So cute! It's hard to put on a cool facade and simultaneously shut away his caring side - because that's what it takes for Cain to sublimate his hurt and his weakness as well. So he's a little awkward with genuinely emoting. And that's a big risk too - and a scary one! So better not. He does it subtly, with gifts of flowers and (too many) teddy bears and being a little too creepy protective/possessive of the few people that matter to him.
[Specialties/Abilities]
Cain is just your average emotionally-tortured teenager. Just kidding. Kind of. Not really.
He is perfectly mortal, no magical powers, no speedy healing, no ability to read minds. But here's what he does have going for him:
*Good shot with a pistol *Purveyor of poisons *Amateur crime-solver *Defrauds magic/hypnosis/and the like (he's a skeptic) *Picks locks *Makes a pretty woman, in drag *Adept at other Victorian hobbies of the aristocrats (horseback-riding, card-playing, fencing)
However, he's not used to tying his own shoes, having to dress himself, preparing his own food and the like. So privileged, it's true.
Not very adept at gift-giving either. Or quality family TLC. He just doesn't get it. He's a little socially awkward, OK, not having had the best examples or positive role models. [Affection] While I don't think he would hurt someone for trying to give him a hug, or kiss his cheek, he's not inviting it not from anyone. But chances are if you're a young girl that reminds him remotely of Mary, he might forget about his personal bubble. And he doesn't seem to be uncomfortable leaning into women and whispering or touching their arm. All rules of personal space forgotten for Riff, and only him.
[Fighting] Well, he's used to attempts on his life. Hopefully he won't start that kind of trouble too soon, but feel free to threaten, start a fight with, or injure Cain. As for killing, well, there better be a heated duel before hand. No random takings-out of Cain, please.
He can fight with a sword and use a gun, but again, he's not looking forward to fight. Besides, if he can preempt it, Cain would more lightly set a poison trap than wait for a proper fight.
[Other Permissions] Feel free to read his thoughts. He'd be mortified, but has no skill for stopping it. He has plenty dark secrets he wouldn't want to spill over to this new place, but he's no magician or mind-reader, so he'll just have to suck it up and call you rude for being so invasive.
