Kim Brauer is one of the authors whose writing is in the show. I met her when she was forming a English language prose writers group here in Berlin. A lot of people attended a meeting or two, but with time it was clear that four of us were committed and we continued to read each other's works monthly. Not to insult those who came and went, nor those of us who stayed, but Kim (our founder) was always the best writer. She lives in San Diego now and is very much missed. Her contribution is an excellent starting point. Part 1 of the exhibition focuses on an 1978 made-for-television film that was based on a real plane crash that happened in Florida in 1972. Kim’s story, told in list form, feels very much like a map of the process of scripting a story based on a truth. I believe all of the names here are those of real people who were on Flight 401, and most of the details are true as well
