[At some point, Haruki may notice he's picked up a spectator. Goroh, now the oldest non-immortal person in Luceti, is leaning against the wall of another building, slowly working down a cigarette, and watching as Haruki tries to play baseball with himself.]

Gonna have to work harder than that to improve your batting average, kid.

[Older than Derek? Wow. But once Goroh speaks Haruki turns and- ...Does he even know this guy? He has to admit, the guy looks plenty shady, but apparent age alone makes him awkward about being blatantly rude. Thus, after silently looking at his bat and then back at the smoking man there]

...Yeah, I guess so.

[But at least it's something he can try. Littered baseballs and numerous fly-balls aside]

[Goroh is very shady. He makes it a point to look so. He's never been big on subtlety.]

[Good times man. But that said he blinks once or twice before taking up a ball and tossing it one-handed overhand to Goroh. Yes, back against the pirates he was the pitcher and pretty good at it too so it's not a super-weak throw or anything.

And then sets up a position to hit it with his bat and all. You know, the usual.]

[Baseball is a little different in Goroh's century. And probably more fatal, because it has to compete against Space NASCAR. Regardless, Goroh has a good throwing arm, even if he's never actually played. But for his first pitch, he'll give Haruki a quick but easy one.]

[Quick and easy is more than good enough for this weirdo who went toe to toe with favorites to win college baseball in his area. First swing and...! Bam! Had this been a game the arc and distance would at least make it a double]

[Another one of the balls are near his feet. Clenching the cigarette between his teeth, he kneels down and picks it up. He gives it a momentary twirl between his fingers before standing up.] Could probably use more explosions. More exciting that way. [He gives another pitch, this one with a nice curve to it.]

[This one, however, he has trouble hitting. Or well, by trouble I mean he hits it where it would have gone had it not curved, but misses the ball entirely as a result. Curveballs are still the bane of someone who isn't an avid batter, it seems. He sighs a little, but then-]

Explosions? Yeah, might make this better after all.

[Ah, pity. Here Goroh thought he had a pro.]

People like nice, loud booms. Makes 'em feel alive. Or glad they're alive, depending on how close they are. It ain't a good sport unless you can die from it.
