BUSSES! OMG, THE BUSSES!

Earlier last week I realized it was my last 2 day weekend for a while now (training is done and now for split days off).  So, like I am, I decided that I would go to Prescott for the weekend.  Took a Greyhound to Phoenix, Melanie picked me up there and we went to Prescott.

Or that was the plan.

It worked.  BUT!!!  I got to Greyhound just about an hour early, put my bag in line, and sat down to wait.  And wait.  And as the bus was showing up everyone got up and got in line.  But the bus was already full.  They had very little room for anyone but were bringing another bus to take the rest of us.  10 to 15 minutes.  Oh, but they had room for just some people on the first bus.....and I was the first one who DIDN'T get sit on the first bus.  15 minutes into the wait the chick behind me asked someone when the bus would be in.  10 to 15 minutes, since it was behind an accident on the interstate.

Called Melanie, let her know I would be 30 to 40 minutes late, and sat down with a book to read.

About an hour later was finally on the bus and on my way.  Oh, and the station in Phoenix wasn't aware there was another bus coming, so when Melanie asked them they said the next bus wouldn't arrive until something like 3:30 am.

But got there, and all's well that ends well.

Oh, but the saga is not over.....

Came back to Tucson.  Had a good bout of disorientation on the bus due to falling asleep while reading Excel Saga vol. 17, but the bus went well.  Walked to Suntran (city bus for those of you not here), sat with Dune: Messiah and read all the way down Broadway.  Until there was a crunching sound right after we passed Park Mall (about a quarter mile from my destination), the half dozen people on the bus lurched to the left side and looked out the window.

The bus had slowed to stop for a van that had pulled half-way out into the bus lane.  The driver, instead of pulling back or turning right, tried to floor it and make it across something like 6 lanes of traffic.  Needless to say, got T-BONED.  So there we sat as witnesses for another 45 minutes.

Beer tasted really good when I finally got home.
