Yesterday morning I woke up pretty unenthusiastic towards New Years. I did my morning scan of looking for any shows coming. Ticketmaster had put up a handful of "Day Of Show" tickets for the Sevendust show. I dropped everything and hauled ass to the FYE in the mall. I got a ticket for fucking $50.35 but I got one so I was happy. They sold out shortly after. I got there at like 5:30 and only the pass the line people were there. I was in complete amazement. The show sold out and no less then 75% of them were just there because they could listen to music and dance while they were drunk not because it was a favorite band or anything. There were a few who were fans but there were crazy drunk Asian ladies who thought Sevendust's intro of "A Country Boy Can Survive" over the speakers was the band. Bubba Ray Dudley made his cameo before the set. Sevendust played a really good set (only one song off of Seasons) though a lot of new songs. I am convinced Morgan is in the top 3 drummers in rock. Having been the 4th time I've seen them it gets more and more impressive. To see him do backup vocals and throw a stick in the audience and catch another one from the sound crew across the room and never miss a note is pretty incredible for a stage act if you ask me. I thought it was neat because I was at the front rail and there was a woman who was about 50 and very attractive for her age that knew every song Sevendust played and Lajon acknowledged her for it. She's not a poser like my father I guess.. At midnight all the bands and their families came on stage. It was a pretty cool deal. My ear infection which has been hurting like hell since Friday is 100 times worse from standing in front of the speaker on the right side of the stage but I'm not worried about it. I'll get over it. I just woke up at 2 which is wonderful. I need to get a shower and get dressed but I don't really feel like it. So I'm gonna get off of here. But I will say it wasn't perfect but it was by far much better then sitting at home for New Years.
