Starter Pokemon: Seel (male), "Li"
Personality: Yao usually has a cheerful air around him, but when he talks about how much the world has changed he slips into depression. Being over 4000 years old, he often complains about his back hurting and acts like an old man. He tends to end most of his sentences with "aru," but when he speaks to England he switches to "ahen" as a reference to the Opium Wars. Although he's the eldest of his brothers and sisters (the other Asian countries), they don't treat him like the oldest brother at all.
Yao loves anything that's cute, especially Hello Kitty and pandas. Another thing he loves is Chinese cuisine, but if the food has certain patterns of tastes he's sure to complain about it. He tries to act mature most of the time, however, he quickly loses his patience when he's around Korea. He also likes to hang out with Shinatty-chan, who is really an old man in a cheap Hello Kitty costume. Yao is known for making cheap copies of other nations' products, which irritates Japan. Despite being skilled at martial arts, he likes to use a wok as a weapon.
Yao was the one who found Japan as a small child and raised him. However, Japan eventually attacked him and left behind a large scar on his back, which he still bears to this day. Because of Japan's betrayal, Yao often feels uneasy when he's around him.
Strengths/Weaknesses: Yao's strengths lie in his cooking and his skills at martial arts. Being the oldest country, he has had much battle experience and has a lot of patience. As of now his country is one of the richest in the world. When he becomes extremely angry his strength skyrockets and when he's like this he can break down a wall easily (e.g. Hetalia World Series Episode 28).
One of Yao's weaknesses include putting his cuisine as his first priority. This makes his determination to do anything else go down. His backaches also pose a problem, as they may prevent him from doing other things especially if they're really bad.

Starter: Yao has a male Seel, which he nicknamed "Li" because he didn't like the name "Seel."

First Person Sample: Aiyaa... What am I doing? I shouldn't be doing these kind of things anymore, I'm too old for this! One minute I'm taking my morning walk through the bamboo grove and the next I wake up in a house that's not mine. Then there was that women who said she was my mother. I don't even think I had a mother... But that doesn't change the fact that I'm now walking through cities that I've never heard of and that I suddenly have the occupation of a breeder.
Well, the only good thing so far is that I have this cute seal creature traveling with me. I believe his species is known as "Seel," but I didn't like that name, so I call him Li instead. Ah, Li... that's a much better name than Seel.
Li is probably one of the most adorable creatures that I have ever laid my eyes on! Those big eyes, that beautiful white appearance, and that little horn on his head!!! He's almost as cute as Shinatty-chan!
I have a feeling that as long as Li is with me, I will be able to make it through this ordeal. Who knows? I might even grow to enjoy life here. But at the moment my back is killing me as I continue to trudge along the dirt road... Aiyaa. I hope there's an inn nearby, 'cause I really don't want to lie down on the dirt again.
Third Person Sample: "Aiyaa! What a bad time for my back to start acting up, aru!" Yao exclaimed, putting one hand to his back. "I need a break, aru." He took his hand off his back and walked over to where there was a small stream flowing. Yao sat near the stream and dug through his backpack until he found a pokeball.
"Alright, Li, time to come out, aru." Yao opened the pokeball, causing a bright light to appear and then form into a Seel.
The Seel landed in the stream and when it resurfaced it happily cried out to Yao. "Seel!"
Yao just smiled as he watched Li swim, with that adorable tail moving up and down. He took off his shoes and socks so he could dip his feet in the water. He sighed in content as the rest of his body began to cool down. Now that he was sitting down, the pain in his back was beginning to fade.
Yao turned his gaze back to his pokemon, which was now squirting water into the air from its mouth. The sight made him chuckle. He didn't like to keep Li locked up in his pokeball, but being a Seel, Li wouldn't be able to keep up with him on land. So whenever Yao stopped to rest he would try to stop where there was a body of water, that way he could let Li out.
Yao closed his eyes again and leaned back on his hands. Sure, he was in an unfamliar place, but at least he had Li to keep company. Suddenly, Yao felt cold water being splashed onto him. His eyes flew open and he looked at Li, who was crying out as though he were laughing.
"Seel! Seel!"
Yao glared at him. "You little imp, aru!"
