Hi!

This is just a wine entry.

Woodbridge (Zinfandel) [California] 2002

I purchased this last week and it was pretty interesting - the zinfandel grapes have an interesting flavour, they have a peppery tone to them, mixed with spicy black cherry and blackberry, the wine has a really spicy taste and a zing to it, with a perfect finish. The only time the finish bothered me was finishing of the glass with a big gulp, and thats normal for me.

I didn't have anyone to share this one with, so I had two glasses last weekend, and used the rest in a beef stew - I figured with the spicy nature of the wine, I could make the stew with quite a bit of both black and Cayenne pepper. I used some angus beef cubes and potatoes, celery, and carrots. Unfortunately, I had to stop heating it in the middle and then reheat it, as I forgot I had to pick my friend up at the airport - but I don't think it really affected it. It was a very good stew, and the Zinfandel brought out the flavor. I would like to make this stew again, next time with flour (I had none this time, so it was more of a soup than a stew).

Anyway - the wine is good by itself, definitely fine for drinking alone or with maybe a sharp cheese or something, its got a zing that would compliment quite a number of flavorful foods.

Up next: A new Pinot Noir! I'm excited aobut it, it sounds good from the description, though it was 15 dollars, which is a little more than I like to spend on an unknown wine, but we'll see!
