...and the house isn't *quite* quiet...Logan's still up, and that young man can't be quiet to save his immortal soul. *LOL*
Hubby's in bed, sleeping off his illness (I hope)...Dana sacked out HOURS ago (thank God)...and my mom left shortly after 9pm due to being disaster-prone.
Seriously.
She took down our kitchen table, the hard way. She'd been in the floor, playing with Dana, and when the wee lass crawled into the living room to investigate some scraps of wrapping paper she'd found, Mom decided to get up. Doing so, she rested her weight on a chair seat, and then on the table edge. (Keep in mind, my mother--whom I love DEARLY--is not a small woman for her stature.) The table top snapped free of the pedestal and sent everything sliding off the side. My mom ducked her head--we both screamed, terrifying Dana--and glass, plates, tiny snowglobes, paper, EVERYTHING rained down on her back and crashed to the floor.
Miraculously, no one got hurt. I lost one glass and one snowglobe. Mom was grateful I had moved the punchbowl earlier. ;)
After her heart resumed its normal rhythm again, we cleaned up the mess, laughed about it all a great deal, then packed her things up so she could flee. At the car, she dinged her door with an iron skillet (chipped the paint), and when she got home...she dropped her keys off the porch.
Needless to say, I asked her to forego climbing up and down the basement steps tonight to do laundry. ;)
Honestly, I think if anything my family did DIDN'T have something go wrong, we'd be worried. In fact, I told Mom I prefer going back to accidentally shooting fireworks into my grandparents' carport over what happened at my house. XD
In any case, once again--Happy New Year!
new year,
family
