Parenting fail?

MiL bought Logan a pair of knock-off Crocs the day before yesterday, and when I dropped the kids off at her house yesterday morning, she had them waiting for him. Dark blue, with dogs on them--a bit big, but wearable. He was so excited, and proud of them! When I picked Logan and Dana up, he asked MiL if he could wear them home to show daddy, and she said yes (naturally).

The shoes are gone. Well, one shoe is, anyway. How did we manage to lose a pair of shoes in a day? Ask my son. See if he'll tell *you* what he did with them. All we know is that he was playing outside while Bobby was making signs for a delivery we're expecting today, Bobby came back into the house for some duct tape, and when he went back outside, Logan was standing on the sidewalk soaking wet (he claims he was trying to pee in the yard, and ended up wetting himself). Bobby grabs him up and totes him inside, straight into the bathtub.

I remember vaguely wondering why Logan wasn't wearing shoes when Bobby carried him in, but was distracted by Dana trying to fling herself into the bathwater. Between that, talking to my husband, and bunny-hunting in the forums of Chicken Smoothie...I forgot. And Bobby did, too, as he finished his signs and came back into the house, with nary an indication that he'd noticed the missing clogs, either.

Fast forward to this morning: Logan is asking to wear his "blue shoes"--and we can't find them. Ultimately, I left without them, and we told MiL that he must've put them somewhere and forgotten. Meanwhile, we're searching the yard.

*sigh*

Bobby found one shoe in the neighbor's driveway--her dog had carried it over and chewed it. The other is still missing...and it's a longshot to think we'll find it.

So, yeah, we lost a pair of brand-new shoes in less than...well, in about twelve hours.

Weekend plans: locate and purchase identical shoes; lie to MiL about what really happened.

life, family, logan
