Quick Release Fire Hydrant...
or...FUCK!
I'm really sorry about my disappearance. I never got around to the meme I was supposed to do for afrocurl and I haven't seen people I should have seen and I've been in places with slow as molasses internet and then.
The worst day of my lj hiatus:
I drove from Amherst to Newton and was almost hit by a tractor trailer on the way. It decided to come over two lanes fromt he entrance ramp without looking and I had to get out of its way by changing lanes with totally not enough warning or space. And it was scary. And then after getting through that and off the interstate and being back in Newton on a quiet little street...
I was in a car accident. Long story, but there was dog avoidance and then there was looking back for dog (who was okay) and not stopping car fully before it hit a fire hydrant, lightly but hard enough to knock it over. Apparently they get knocked over so often that Newton has installed - I am not making this up - quick release fire hydrants that disconnect and fall off their pedestles without shooting water everywhere. So this and other fun facts about car accidents supplied to me by very nice cops were the only bright spot in this day. The car (luckily my parents' Corolla and not the Ford Escort with only minimum basic insurance...) has damage, and my insurance will go up, but the dog (his name is Walter) is fine as are all the humans involved.
Then I got home and realised that I had the wrong date for earis's departure and I wouldn't be able to see her again before Texas. Then I went upstairs and cried. Well, okay, I drank bourbon before I started crying, because I was pretty shook up.
So, I suck.
