A proper Christmas post will come eventually when I've posted all of my pictures on Facebook for reference (the few of you not of Facebook can comment for pics).
However, there is something on my alcohol-influenced mind that stuck out from me over the last couple of days.
When I was in Nampo-dong (one of the newer, nice, foreign-friendly parts of the city), I walked past a construction site for Lotte World II, which will eventually be the 4th largest building in the world that will surpass the Sears Tower in height. For perspective, they showed sketches comparing the tallest completed and pending buildings in the world in height, and my beloved Sears Tower was 5th. Upon further research, the Sears Tower is set to be 11th in the world by 2012.
I know it shouldn't bug me that much, but growing up, the Sears Tower was always a source of pride for Chicagoans since it was legitimately the world's tallest office building until the late 1990's. Granted, times have changed, and records are always made to be broken.
Also granted, the world's tallest building is planned to be completed in Dubai in 2009, and that emerate has more money than it knows what to do with (after all, they have refrigerated beaches to keep the sand cool!), so I shouldn't be so downhearted after all.
