Musings. They are sparkly.

Over the past few days, I have come to the conclusion that parents are like the Greeks. Never trust the nice tone. It means that you will be yelled at later. On the other hand, my rooom is now clean, with the exeption of a giant heap of garbage in the middle of it. But at least it is known garbage. And I need a bookshelf, because apprently there is no magical portal to the forth dimension of book space. I dont even think ther is a forth dimension of book space. But I would still very much like a portal there. At least I could stop accumilating random books like Quantum Physics of Chemistry . I did rescue it from the garbage though.

Speaking of books, the Lord Of Castle Black officially confirms the utter divinity of Steven Brust. Nothing like random musings on the nature of ends, means and justifications being not only randomly inserted into a work, but managing to come off as a peice of stellar and illuminating awesomeness, as opposed to a poorly digested philosophical masquerade. I am happy. I am obsessed. Huzzah!

But, really, there should be a style category of book(&movie) disscussion. I mean, a lot of boks can be thought of in terms of genre. Like, fantasy genre. But then there is also style. A sort of an overarching thing that goes through it. For example, Dumas style, Zelazny style, Beowulf style...So, some things within a confines of a style are supposed to be there and a style can get away with them. Kill Bill and blood squiritng. Brust(as Paafri) and the history of Bengloafurt Ford. Tolkien and mass showings of orcs. Right. This is obvious. But the thing is that for the work to be trully awesome it has to go beyond the style. Kill Bill was more than a revenge movie. Paafri had subtle political commentary and Dragaeran coolness. Also, Morrolan. Tolkien had Frodo, integrating an, everyday type character into a fantasy world. So, the works are awesome. By contrast some people don't use a cool style and still come out OK, like the a Song Of Ice and Fire or Farseer books. The style is called "Normal Realism" in that case, me thinks. And its good too. But it lacks a portion of the cool factor and has to make it up in other ways. Huzzah style!

By the way, I wonder if Anne Rice can be said to write in Romance style. Vampire Lestat does read like a romance novel, or at least what I would imagine a romance novel style to be like. I almost feel like I should read one to fine out, but then I get this vomiting reaction. Sort of like when I try to replace every diet component with chips and soda. Yesterday I found out that this was a bad idea. Then I had normal food and learned the joys of cookie dough. Yum.

Speaking of the sleepover, Sawyer and Sayid, who are characters in Lost the TV show are very very cool. In fact they manage to be totally awesome in all aspects. And I am not obsessed with that show, even if I have a thousand conspiracy theories and will start jumping up and down when further clues are revealed in the next episode.
