Oscar season!

It is completely weird that I live a mere three blocks from the theater where the Oscars are held. Today I drove past the block the Kodak Theater is on (the block itself is closed off for the week), and they had those giant gold Oscar statues up, and there were scads of tourists. It was pretty cool

I both predicted and hoped Navarro would win; I have not seen "Pan" (though I intend to), but I have had a serious man-crush on him since "Hellboy".

Fuckin' nobody cares about poor "Hellboy", but I love the film and hope the Pan-love brings it some more attention, and it happens to contain one of my favorite shots ever. (In case you have seen the movie, it's the funeral scene, a slow pan up from the blue-cast, rainy procession to a bridge where Hellboy looks down, the bright reds of his skin beautifully muted, the raindrops collecting on him.)

I was very depressed that when they introduced him as he went up to get his Oscar, the only two movies they could think of to discuss his previous work were "Spy Kids" and "Night at the Museum".
