I don't remember what I was doing 5 minutes ago, let alone 5 days ago. it has been ABSOLUTELY INSANELY RIDICULOUSLY awesome.
I have plenty of pictures I need to upload when I find a few minutes of peace and quiet. I shouldn't be writing in this now, I have errands to run, papers to copy, parking passes to complete, and business insurance to get.
Friday was day #1. Maverick helped me pack the car. I miss him kind of. Got down here, signed a lease for the apartment, then called potential receptionists applying to come in for an interview with me, then came to the office to move in as much crap as possible. I had the hotel room to myself, and it was nice to relax even though I was anxious the whole time. Saturday I interviewed a few receptionists, hired both Nikki and Blake. I continued to move stuff in/make a check list of things to do when my parents got here around 4 with a ginorm UHaul truck. needless to say, the office did a complete 180 transformation from nothing to a Vector Office. Kemmy & Associates, if you will. We had a great dinner, and its finally time that I admit how amazing my parents are. Of course they annoy me, but they are so supportive and have helped me sooo much the past few months. Anyway, Sunday I interviewed one more receptionist, and hired Stephanie. I don't really remember the rest of Sunday.
Monday I started training Blake, and she's doing a pretty solid job so far. She seems really dependable and I appreciate someone who values hard work. I literally do not remember Monday. Oh, I did go to Home Depot to buy a whiteboard and some keys. I almost left my phone there (terrifying). Wait... that was Sunday. I don't know. One day I did groceries and it was monsooning. and I got groceries. and one night I drove to Beaufort about an hour away. Maybe that was the same day I got groceries. One way or the other, I got food, I got a whiteboard, and I drove an hour away for nothing.
Tuesday I trained Nikki... I think that was the monsoon day. She went through the basics, and today (thursday) let me know she couldn't accept the position. Not a big deal, just an obstacle to go over. I ran my first interview and hired 2 fairly bright kids. I hope they show!
Wednesday I trained Stephanie and also Blake came in and continued some training. We got packages (very exciting) and decorated the office so now it is TRULY a wonderful blade slinging haven. I ran another interview, had 5 more excited people accept the job.
We FINALLY got the internet installed (instead of nicely borrowing our neighbors) so our phone lines are basically up and running. Great news for the HH staff haha. I ran another interview, and I have a 2nd one scheduled tonight.
Literally, my days are running together. there is a checklist a mile long, things to do and people to call. But by taking every day one step at a time, things get accomplished and life goes on.
What a horrible, stressful, unique, amazing, boring, exciting, upbeat, tiring, amazing opportunity I've gotten myself into. I love every second.
