God and Wednseday

Aug 31, 2008 03:05

It finally makes some sense to me. As a child, I rejected the god idea as too convenient. No one wanted to die so they created an afterlife and its caretaker, whom they called god. I never actually saw the old guy so I reasonably concluded that it was bull. Now, I'm grown. I realize others also sense that convenience and reality are not kissing cousins. Still, they want god. Why? Because they get pissed off. Life sucks, and not just the inconvenient dying part. People suck. Everything is unfair and stupid, but who are you going to call? There are no ghost busters and if there were what could they do? Your friends, lovers, associates, dogs and neighbors are the problem not the solution. You need a god, the ultimate complaint department of everything ontological and the sole source that can explain the vagueries of major League Baseball. Religion is the manifestation at being pissed off by the town's failure to collect the garbage on time and a cold Egg McMuffin.
