Preliminary thoughts in no order and not necessarily all that coherent and probably with plenty of silly nitpicking:
- A mechanized alien medical program winds up on Earth and tries to heal all the sick and injured humans it comes across, only for things to go horribly out of control...
Hold on...this sounds familiar....weren't there
gas masks involved last time?
- Lily Cole was a great choice for the Siren. Very pretty, but in a kinda creepy, "I look like a Bratz Doll" sort of way.
- I appreciate Amy being the one to grab a sword and go save the boys. It was kind of silly to bother taking the time to play pirate dress up, but c'mon - she had the chance to play PIRATE DRESS UP on an ACTUAL PIRATE SHIP. The pirates trying to fight her off with sticks and ropes was pretty funny and made quite a bit of sense, of course they hid all the big, sharp, pointy things away when a simple paper cut could signal the Siren. Though apparently they're still not bright enough to avoid sticking their prisoner in the room with the giant unlocked chest of swords.
- The TARDIS is sulking 'cause some old-timey pirate thinks he's figured out how to pilot her. Show a lady some respect, sir!
- What was up with the mermaid medallion? It was like it was supposed to be really important...but then it just wasn't...
- I would like to start a Facebook group dedicated to the Doctor Who writers. It shall be called, "Stop Killing Rory Williams for Dramatic Effect". I like Rory, he's pretty much the only voice of sanity left on the TARDIS these days. He's been killed at least 3 times since the middle of last season. The poor guy's been through enough, okay?!
...Not that I mind seeing Arthur Darvill with his shirt off once in awhile....Good lookin' out for us ladies (and/or men who're into that, too)...
- Amy! Didn't you just spend about 3 months in that shirt? Have you SEEN the TARDIS Wardrobe?! Go change!
Huh, could Amy still wearing the same thing this whole time be some kind of a clue about Metal Eyepatch Lady? Is Amy secretly hallucinating everything? If this whole series is a dream I'm gonna be so pissed.
- Alright, the last time I took any sort of first aid class was around 2003, but I'm pretty sure that Amy's CPR was pretty much the worst CPR ever. Which brings us to: WHY IN THE HELL WASN'T THE DOCTOR DOING ANYTHING?! I mean, really!! The man can reprogram nanogenes in mid air WITH HIS FINGERS, he can genetically alter man-pigs in the 1920's, but HE CAN'T DO CPR?! He's THE EFFING DOCTOR. IT'S IN HIS NAME. THE TARDIS HAS BEDROOMS AND BATHROOMS AND SWIMMING POOLS AND LIBRARIES BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE A SICK BAY?!?! WHAT IS THIS?! I CAN'T EVEN.....

- I wish they would have gone a bit more into the Captain's back story. Like explained why he went from Naval Officer to Pirate. They kept mentioning it and the Doctor even asked why, but he never outright explained his motivations, outside of allusions to treasure being awesome. I feel like him choosing to stay with his son at the end was meant to be heartwarming and to signal that he'd learned a lesson, but considering they didn't much explain why he went rogue in the first place, it doesn't really hit the mark very well.
- LOL Space Pirates. That could never go wrong.
