Since our dues program has proven so unpopular among both our local members (who consider it "burdensome") and the O.T.O. higher ups who choose not to mandate it for fear that all bodies will end up looking like cookie cutter versions of one another, this year Sekhet-Maat has opted to diversify our funding strategies. After thoroughly investigating many possible tacks, we've come to the conclusion that the big money is in speculative investments. It's worked really well for the broader economy and -- as above, so below! -- is therefore bound to work on a smaller scale equally well.
The first entry point we aim to utilize in the coming year is taking advantage of the publishing gaps we see in many of Crowley's works. Having earlier this year received a tip from those in the know, we invested in several gross of the Crowley/Harris Tarot decks in anticipation of its going out of print. The bulk discount we received alone would enable us to turn a decent profit, but the quantity in which we purchased them had the additional benefit of drying up the market in record time, creating the impression of even greater scarcity among the few distributors who still have any stock left. We will soon start leaking out our supply through a variety of fronts that will obscure our position and the total quantity of available decks while pushing our ROI through the roof.
This method also has the benefit of other bodies not being able to replicate it, at least not with this particular publication. And our taking the initiative at this time gives us a degree of leverage other local bodies will not have available to utilize in future publication gaps. We ought to get bonus props for taking steps to ensure our strategy is unique.
So, yes, this will make it a bit more difficult to come by if you want to give a copy of the Thoth deck to a friend or loved one, but at least you know the proceeds will be going to a most righteous cause. Those who made a contribution to the Thoth Conservation Fund may inquire privately for a special discount rate of only $75 per deck.
