Dollygirls Tea Party at Salon de Imada Minako

Jun 01, 2013 13:09

The circle/comm of Japanese lolitas I was in, dollygirls tea party, went to the Salon de Imada Minako in the Takashimaya department store in Shinjuku back at the end of November. Imada Minako is a famous patissier and etiquette mistress lol. This is the same place that Juliette et Justine later held their two tea parties (I didn't go to either, unfortunately).

I asked Sapphira to come because I still like having another foreigner around for support and if things get awkward with the Japanese crew I have someone to talk to. And of course because everyone loves her <3

The tea sets came out on super heavy silver platters. All the plates and silverware seemed super expensive. It turns out that Imada Minako likes to collect very expensive tea cups, including one that was supposedly used by Marie Antoinette~ She seems to be yet another Japanese person with a Marie Antoinette/France fetish.

The top tier of the set was your choice of cake. This was black forest/something German and mysterious sounding.

Next was the scone layer

There there were some cookies and sweets. Again all sugar ARGGG

Fancy tea pots with Imada Minako's stamp

Examples of her cakes? idk

Two of the pretty attendees!

She had her own stained glass heehee

Someone might be a little obsessed...

And group photo. I really didn't like my outfit, and I like my black petti peeking out even less :P

Here is a better pic of Sapphira's outfit. Her dress is IW.

And here's my hawkward outfit again. I look tired. Dress MM, the rest vintage and offbrand.

Ok so review time. The meetup was fun, I always like taking the Japanese lolita challenge and I enjoyed going with Sapphira. But for all the hubub about that tea room, the tea set was really boring. I also don't like tea sets that are 100% sugar - give me a sandwich or something at least! That's part of the reason I wasn't so keen on going to the JetJ party - I knew I'd be paying $80 or $100 to have that lame tea set again, plus a few bonus gifts and events. And I sold that dress too because it was too small. And I learned I shall never do that hairdo unless I have bangs or else risk looking like a weird old lady. The end.
