have been here in Spain since March 24th and it has been great! The culture here is great. During my stay here I have spent about a week in Seville during Holy Week, while the rest of my time was passed in Badajoz. Sevilla during Semana Santa (Holy Week) was insane! The city seemed to be packed to its capacity as tourists (mostly Spanish tourists) came to the Sevilla to watch the processionals which weaved throughout the city and featured, for lack of a better word, floats which were carried by men. These "floats" were called pasos and feautred ornate scenes inspired by the Bible. It was interesting for me to get a glimpse in this very big Catholic tradition. I did get to see some of the paso´s which can date back to the 16th century, visit the cathedral, and go to Italica (some nearby Roman Ruins). Here in Badajoz my time is spent visiting the university and going to "English clubs" where I get to help some of the students here practice their conversational English. Most of them learn British English so I have also been able to practice using some of my British vocabulary such as "petrol" and "trousers." I have made some new friends here who I won´t soon forget and look forward to seeing again in the future.
Here is a link to some pictures I have taken here in Spain:
http://wsu.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2075286&l=60cc0&id=27214738 It has been cool to immersed into the Spanish culture, but I am looking forward to being in an English speaking country again where I will be more comfortable considering the fact that my spanish vocabulary consist of about a dozen phrases. I will fly back to London tomorrow and start up school again at Swansea University. I have exams in late May and early June, and then I just need to "wait" (i.e. visit the beach and parks and hang out with friends) until Jennica, Teresa, and Mom fly into London. So that´s the most of what is new with me. I hope you are all doing well.
