Happy Holidays, BethBethBeth! )
Plus wonderful footnotes (1) - thank you so much for including them! And the art at the bottom (Crowley in his Zoot suit and Aziraphale in his warden's garb) is totally FTW. Thanks again, mystery author, for such a thoughtful gift!

(1) [Hah! A footnote about footnotes!] I think I have a particular fondness for the second footnote in the first section: it's always nice to see an extra happily-ever-after story inside of a story.
However, this is possibly my favorite exchange of all:
`I swear, angel, if I'd known it was you, I'd never have discorporated you-at least not so messily.'
`And what about my Presence? How, pray tell, did you miss that?'
`We're in Jesus' hometown for Chr-Somebody's sake, everything feels holy!'

I listened to "We'll Meet Again" while writing, so naturally I had to include it in there somewhere. ^_^ I'm glad you enjoyed Crowley being coerced into doing something nice. ;) And yes, it generally is against his will--or at least he acts like it is. ^_~
It's great you liked the footnotes--I had fun with them. And I could write a story about the exchange you commented on lol. I restrained myself, though, to a few sentences. xD I wasn't going to draw anything--I stink at backgrounds, for one thing, but in the end I couldn't pass up Crowley in a Zoot suit and Aziraphale in an airraid warden's helmet and coveralls. ^_^
BTW, the mods said they'd correct this ASAP but I noticed when I copy and pasted the story to send to them, somehow a sentence in part one ended up in the middle of another sentence. 0_o I have no idea how I managed that. Anyway, this is what the two parts should say:
She was doing it to calm the cat, but it also steadied Aziraphale’s nerves as well. He hadn’t been sure how much longer he could hold out, miracling constantly like he was. He wasn’t sure if his human body could die of stress and/or exhaustion, but he was probably going to find out. But with her singing, he felt stronger. Not everyone had lost hope. It was people like her that he was trying to save….
As the small dog-a terrier, judging by the barks-barreled over people, Sophie snatched her cat and held him tight. Aziraphale had been making sure Blackbird didn’t run away or scratch Sophie, so he ended up rather surprised when he had a face full of feathers and small, excitable dog.
Just thought I'd let you know so you didn't think I was a flake or something. ^_^;;;
I loved writing it and I'm glad you liked it. :D
