WELCOME STEVEN MOFFAT. PLEASE MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME.
First off: I LOVED IT! It was a lovely introduction to Eleven and Amy. The Big Bad was a wee bit lame and it lulled a bit in the middle of the episode, but it did serve as a wonderful beginning for the season.
- Having seen Matt Smith in Party Animals, I did not get the hate, because he was pretty awesome in that. And sure, he's got an odd facial structure and he may be, along with Dominic Cooper, the very definition of ugly!hot, but I have high hopes for him! Didn't disappoint in the first episode. I love the kookiness. Hopefully the hint of 10 will evaporate and he'll become his own Doctor, because I would hate for him to become a carbon copy.
- Wee!Amelia Pond was so cute! If your heart didn't break when she was backing her suitcase and waited for the Doctor, then you must be a robot!
- Eating/evil beans/fish custard scene = SO GOOD! You're Scottish, fry something! ♥
- I cannot express how GLAD I am that Amy didn't turn out to be a police officer. That skirt and those nails would not have survived. And as much as it is comprehensible, her obsession with the Doctor during her childhood is cute and kinda creepy.
- Dear Mr Moffat, please do not mess Amy up. Because she seems neurotic (in a good way!), fierce and her 'tude is fantastic. If she becomes Rose 2.0 (and if Rory becomes Mickey 2.0), I will cut someone up. Reagrds, Anna.
- Having said that, I WANT HER HAIR AND HER LEGS.
- New TARDIS is cool (tap faucets, typewriter and all!) and his outfit is every hipster's/librarian's wet dream.
- The new theme sucks though. I'm sorry, but that chord progression is rubbish.
- I loved the cheeky shout-out to past doctors too, even if it was a bit cheesey. Good to know that Eight is canon (but I mean, hello? Paul McGann!).
- Oh, and I really liked the camera work in this ep. It was great!
LOOK AT HOW BRILLIANT THIS SEASON LOOKS.
