Crawling, baby proofing and nursery

Crawling - they never tell you quite how exhausting it is when they start to crawl properly! He can now speed up and down the flat in the blink of an eye (can beat me every time) and yesterday mastered the art of climbing up furniture. Unfortunately he has not yet realised that turning round whilst standing and holding onto something means that he falls to the floor with a big bump. Me thinks we should take out shares in Bupa.

Baby Proofing - Gary has spent this afternoon boarding up the computer desk (Zachariah got his little finger caught in the CD stacker in the top of the server the other day) and we have had to board up the TV stand as well (before he gets his head stuck in the gaps). It is tempting to just put everything (including the sofas) on shelves and pad the walls.

Nursery - was extremely impressed with my son on Friday when he managed two hours at nursery without us and did not cry once. Apparently he was interested in the other babies but a bit too shy to actually approach them. When I went to get him he just looked at me and carried on chewing the block he had hold of. Feel kind of sidelined now!

He also made us his first painting (with his feet) which I am very impressed with (actually it just looks like smudged feet but am extremely proud anyway!). Hopefully he will inherit his aunty Hazels artistic abilities.

He is going again for another two hours tomorrow and then starts on Tuesdays and Thursdays for five hours at a time. Once I get over the 'oh my god the flat feels empty' feelings i am looking forward to being able to read a book or watch a film without worrying about him. I am also looking to find a part time job soon just to check that my brain does still function.

Di - how did the interview go?
Haze - have sent off for books for mum (Dark Tower thingies) - just need to remember to send her a card (thats a reminder to me by the way!)

Anyway - am going to go and watch Airplane II (it is my night off and I feel like watching a silly film on channel five) and play GTA Liberty City Stories.
