So! I've done a number of things since, hm, Friday morning.
Friday:
My first day at the hospital! I'm volunteering in the post-anasthesia care unit (stage II==lucid). It promises to be a very busy sort of three hours a week, as those are the apparent favorites for elective surgery, but I seem to have caught them on an off day. Gurneys are huge unsteerable beasts. I thought you should know.
Nendaiko (念太鼓)! After getting back from the hospital, mom and I decided to check out the Japanese drumming group that came to campus. Much fun was had by all, as it was a small room with some very loud, hand-made drums. Much was made of an apparent professor who looks remarkably young. :O
What do you do after you've been on your feet for three hours and been used as a medium for the propagation of sound for an additional forty minutes? PASTRIES! Mom and I caved in and headed off to our favorite korean pastry shop for some very delicious snackery. They were out of my favorite (chapssal donuts), but they did have a sugar-drowned bread-like edible thing that more than made up for it. :D
Did some in-margin drawings not worthy of postage. WENT TO BED LATE. ZOMG. STOP.
Saturday:
GOT UP EARLY. TOOK CLARITIN. ZOMG. Went to a group meeting to organize a presentation on childhood autonomy, competence, and the refusal of life-sustaining treatment. Might sound boring, but it's actually some pretty interesting stuff. This went on from noonish to 4:20, or so.
I went back home and speed-changed into a nice sweater/dress combo thing for a reception being held in honor of 50 or so japanese elementary students on loan to a local school's immersion program. The venue was very pretty, very elaborate, and very expensive (-looking), but the food was free and (I'm told) they served good (alcoholic!) drinks (without carding!), so win. Getting there was a little difficult though, as it was very misty (think gothic novel. Castle of Otranto, I mean you!) and not full of townhouses, just ginormous houses. :P Lots of fun for the kiddies. Lots of business cards (ok, 2) for me. And a meeting with three people of note. There was a minister (i.e. Japanese government :O) of some inaudible department (it was unspeakably loud in there, as the parents had apparently chipped in for a dance floor/dj combo). More fascinating, however, was the Japanese couple who were dressed as civil war re-enactors. We (the seven of us students) thought they were just eccentric, but apparently they're family friends of Prime Minister Abe and his wife. :O NAVIGATED POORLY LIT COUNTRY ROAD. WENT TO BED LATE. ZOMG. STOP.
Sunday:
GOT UP EARLY AGAIN. ZOMG. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY. WENT TO BED LATE. STOP.
Monday:
GOT UP EARLIER. ZOMG. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY. TOOK CLARITIN. WENT TO SCHOOL. TYPED UP HOMEWORK. WENT TO LAB. TYPED UP MORE HOMEWORK. STUDY, STUDY. T O O K T E S T~!!! TURNED IN HOMEWORK. Killed time with Fumiko-san <3~. ATE FOOD. MET WITH GROUP UNTIL LATE. WENT TO BED LATER. ZOMG. STOP.
Tuesday:
PRSENTATON. MORE CLARITIN, ZOMG. The professor kept talking about how good it was, despite my relative incoherency and perceived failures to communicate effectively. TOOK NAP <3<3. CLARITIN WORE OFF DUE TO HIGH AMBIENT TEMPERATURE. HAVE TISSUES. AM OK. STOP.
So how've you been? :D
