I realise this is short notice, but...

Fortune has placed me in New York City, staying at my brother's place through at least next Tuesday while we look into getting some much-needed dental work done through the NYU College of Dentistry. I realise it's been ages and forever since I've posted or even commented, but if anyone (well, okay, anyone I've actually talked to in the past, on LJ ( Read more... )

...rather fabulously so far, thank you, except for eating through my pocketbook much faster than I'd anticipated when I first came up here last week. I'm really enjoying the diversity of this place, even though it's colder than a witch's tit in a brass bra flying backwards.

*hugs* How have YOU been lately? I still feel bad for not "coming to your rescue" when you asked me that one time, but I'm hoping you've been able to forgive me. It was just bad timing and I was going through a horribly self-absorbed phase. I hadn't intended to drop the ball, truly. :-(

And fyi, Fortune is simply my generic name for whatever hand has been slowly bringing things together for me over the course of my wild and wildly tragicomic life. :-)

When I first read the entry, Fortune sounded like some sort of company or something. It was the way I read the sentence. Then, a little later, while washing dishes, I was like, "Ohhh. Fortune!" The brain is a little slow these days :P

I imagine that NY is pretty expensive. At least, that's what I've always heard.

Regarding the other thing, I remember you posting a few things on the internet for me post-Katrina, but as far as asking for your help any other time, I honestly don't remember. So don't sweat it. I appreciate the apology, but it was probably such a long time ago so don't feel guilty.

Have a safe trip back.

It was during a particularly low point in your life, and you were telling me you were absolutely desperate for just some good old-fashioned friendly contact, if it rings any bells. No idea if it happened before or after your little trip to Town Lake bridge.

And no worries about having slow brain issues. You should see the state of mine, it's probably not much better.

The Town Lake incident happened in April, 2009. And, unfortunately, the past 3 years of my life have been a big blur. It got worse after I became unemployed, between heavy drinking and other things, the days just started blending together. And, I don't remember too much of the 2 years that I spent in New Orleans, which was a good thing because that place makes you want to forget that you're there. But, I was much more relaxed my last trip there in October, so I wasn't going overboard.
