christina and i pretended to be in high school yesterday. melia's class reminds us of high school because it is late in the afternoon (like 7th period! if 7th period was 330-5, oh god could you imagine?) and it's laid out like a high school classroom, and melia is the quintessential (paly) high school teacher, and it's always way too hot in that room, so it puts everyone to sleep. oh, and it's about irish culture so everyone thinks they're an irish punk, and dresses like an "individual." dear lord. so we passed notes (until the prof showed up, or we'd be in danger of spending the rest of the semester like we were in high school...it's a slippery slope...) and were "subtle." i think we are parodic geniuses, really, we should make movies.
it was great because this dude with whom i am maturely handling having a professional relationship, despite being mildly attracted to him, is also in that class. i guess acting like a kid was sort of a freudian release, because i had just spent an hour teaching him to dance. why am i psychoanalyzing myself? curse...school. it was i guess kinda romantic--i was teaching him to dance in a eucalyptus grove--but, i kept getting these images of shayna foreman, adam stempel, and kim the dance teacher in my head, as i vainly tried to remember reel steps from this summer. i ended up with mud all over my shoes, and i tracked it into melia's class. also like in high school.
today we watched zimbardo in philosophy class. his video had footage of the powwow in it, and interviews with stanford students on campus. on wednesday we watched some video about the nueva school in hillsborough...i think i remember there were some children's theatre kids from there...or that it got shut down following abuse charges....
in even better news, i found out that philip zimbardo may speak at paly baccalaureate. which would be awesome. if you were in my AP psych class, come to baccalaureate. we'll ask zimbardo intelligent, college-student questions, like, "do you drink blood?"
