Together, We’ll Set The Dark on Fire
….
Breakfast with her family and Liam had gone great, Dan really seemed to warm to him, her dad too. Just the usual grilling from him but that was expected, Liam answered every question perfectly it was like he’d rehearsed. They spent the entire afternoon at Central Park playing football together, Jenny kicked Dan’s ass, as per usual, but got distracted by Liam’s muscles after he took his shirt off due to sweating so much. “Dude your drooling”, Eric told Jenny whilst the two took a break. Jenny wiped her lip furiously “I am not!”, she shouted slapping him on the arm playfully. All in all it had been an amazing day, even if the fight with Nate had been playing on Jenny’s mind for the best part of it.
Making their way into the Loft, Jenny noticed the lights and TV were off, and she couldn’t hear any music coming from Nate’s room, he must have gone to bed - Thank God. Jenny thought to herself she couldn’t deal with another awkward run in between him and Liam again.
“Soo, what do you wanna do now?”, Jenny asked her boyfriend nudging him on the arm.
“Well since your brother is staying with…Ahh, what’s her name again?”.
Jenny smiled, she loved the fact he didn’t know who Serena was. Finally. She thought to herself.
“Serena…”
“Yeah, well since he’s with Serena we practically have this place to ourselves and I was thinking…”
Liam began kissing Jenny’s neck running his hands down her back and over her butt.
“Yeah well that sounds amazing and all, but I think your forgetting about someone.” Jenny whispered, pulling away and looking at the door that had Nate behind it. Liam looked over at it and sighed.
“Yes, and he told me he’d be watching me. I should give him something to watch.” Liam said, before tickling Jenny.
“Liam stop it seriously!”, Jenny shouted, laughing. Falling back onto the couch, she began kissing him passionately, running her hands through his hair and up his torso. His lips once again found her neck, moving down to her collarbone, Jenny felt her eyes role to the back of her head due to the pleasure, she gripped onto his hair tighter before feeling his hands begin to unbutton her shirt, opening her eyes she began to wriggle out from under him. “Liam, we cant." Jenny said fastening up the buttons, he’d undone less than 2 seconds ago.
Looking down, he closed his eyes. “Im sorry Jenny, I shouldn’t have done that.” Getting up, Jenny pushed him back down before climbing onto his lap.
“You have nothing to be sorry about. It’s just Im not ready for us to.. to do that yet. Especially with Nate in the other room.” Jenny whispered, stroking Liam’s face.
“And Ive told you I'll wait aslong as it takes. Im not gonna push you.” Liam said kissing Jenny’s hand.
“I know, and that is why I kinda like you.”
Smiling, Liam kissed Jenny gently. “So, do you wanna watch a movie?”
“Sure.” Jenny said climbing of his lap before looking at Liam mischievously, causing him to sigh.
“Your gonna put Dirty Dancing on aren’t you?!”
“No!”, Jenny said laughing, tucking her hair behind her ear.
“Urghh, put it on…”, Liam said shaking his head. “I hope Dan keeps some beer”, he said making his way over to the refrigerator. Smiling Jenny took the DVD out of her bag before putting into the machine and pressing play, Jenny climbed back onto the couch and cuddled up to Liam he seemed to have the beer he’d found permanently attached to his lips causing Jenny to shoot him a confused look.
“If Im gonna be watching this with you again, I need this.” Liam said pointing to his bottle.
….
Stretching Jenny tuned off the TV, and looked over to her boyfriend.
“Liam”, Jenny whispered nudging him. “You can wake up now it’s finished”
Opening his eyes he looked at Jenny and then the TV. “Oh no… I missed it?!”
Tilting her head, she smirked at Liam who kissed her playfully. “Alright, I got to go to bed.” Standing up he began to stretch, Jenny stood up with him and wrapped her arms around his waist. The two stood there for a minute holding each other, when they saw Nate’s bedroom door open. Jenny pulled away from Liam quickly clearing her throat.
Nate slowly approached running his hands through his messy hair, he looked at Jenny sheepishly before looking at Liam. “I owe you an apology”, Nate said to Liam, his voice still hoarse.
Liam and Jenny both looked at each other shocked before turning their attention back to Nate. “I shouldn’t have talked to you the way I did, it was uncalled for.” Nate held out his hand to Liam who looked over at Jenny.
“I accept your apology”. Liam said taking Nate’s hand and shaking it. He could tell Nate had more to say to Jenny. “Alright, I’ll let you two talk.” Walking over to Jenny he kissed her on the head, before patting Nate on the shoulder as he walked past him. Nate smiled at him weakly before looking back over at Jenny.
“Thank you”, Jenny muttered folding her arms.
“Well, you were right. I shouldn’t have acted the way I did.”
“No you shouldn’t have.” Jenny said sitting down on the couch. Nate shortly followed, sitting next to her.
“It’s just…I don’t want you to get hurt Jenny. And after what happened with Damien and Chuck…”. Jenny flinched at the sound of Chuck’s name, she couldn’t bare hearing his name, because the second she did she thought about that night over and over again, from the second she sat down with Chuck, to her sneaking out of the Empire with the blood stained sheets. Nate noticed her discomfort and put a hand on her knee gently. “I don’t know if I would cope, if someone hurt you again.”
“Nate, Liam’s a really good guy. He would never hurt me.”
Nodding his head he looked at Jenny. “I know. He makes you happy, and that’s all that matters to me.” Jenny smiled at Nate, before kissing him on the cheek softly. Nate closed his eyes breathing in her scent, feeling the vibrations running through his body and his heart skip one too many beats. Pulling away Jenny looked into Nate’s eyes, they looked so perfect tonight, the perfect shade of blue. For a second Jenny forget to breath. Did this guy seriously not know the control he had over her? How content she felt when she was with him. Shaking her head, Jenny rested her head on his shoulder wrapping her arms around his.
“I really missed you”, she whispered against his shoulder.
Smiling, Nate kissed her forehead before resting his head on top of hers. “I missed you too.” Nate couldn’t believe how comfortable he felt whenever Jenny was around him, everything that had happened to him these past 6 months, all the hurt and all the pain, the deafening noises, the blinding strobe lights of every strip club in New York, all faded away, all he could smell was Jenny’s scent, all he could feel was Jenny’s breath on his arm, and all he could see was her beauty.
The perfect girl Nate had pictured in head, a girl he would never find no matter how much he searched, no matter how many girls he slept with, had been right in front of him this whole time. He’d just been too stupid to see it.
And now… now it was too late.
