Do you follow 30toseoul at all? She's worked in Antarctica for a number of years, currently at McMurdo, previously at Pole, and she posts some fascinating stuff.
You could simply count America as one continent, that´s what we do in Argentina XD. There, I just gave you an extra continent for free!
Also, duolingo is great to get started learning Spanish. Immersion is good once you have a basic knowledge (what it does it make bring to the forefront the things you know passively and make you recognize them, then use them yourself), otherwise is pretty much torture because you have to spend the first month or more simply getting to learn to name the stupidest everyday objects.
And yeah, I'd definitely do some study of basic Spanish, either a class or book/recording thing, before moving. I had actually studied Japanese for over a year before heading there. But there's nothing like actually immersing yourself to really *learn* a language. ^__^ And learning languages is so fun! ^__^
I´m an introvert, for me it was totally valid to read novels and novels and fanfic before ever visiting England :p Where in Argentina were you thinking?
Argentina is wonderful, even if I find their Spanish rapid and accented and near-impossible to understand. Patagonia is stunningly beautiful and has excellent chocolate. Just saying. Also, if you go, make sure to visit Chile as well!
I agree with you on "all the places". I pretty much want to go everywhere, with the possible exception of Detroit.
Yeah, the several people I've met that have done ship work all said it's fantastic. One problem is with the market what it is, those jobs may be more limited, especially for someone with know prior shipboard experience. We shall see, we shall see! ^_^
I just saw this post... and I wanted to say that I've been looking at visiting Seattle but it's so expensive so I'll still be staying put for a few years in Sydney... but one day I really wat to visit you and meet your sis !
BTW Happy New Year - hope you are well and keeping warm in a "real" winter country. :)
