awhile back one of my goals was to read more bell hooks, conviently she has written a book titled : where we stand class matters. this book is a great service to my recent obession on class, which seems to be fueled by my current living situtation. so i will leave you with a few notes,

comment if you like:

"whites move out of neighborhoods when the black/ people of color populations reach somewhere between 10 and 20 percent, even when those moving in hae the same economic and social standing"

"In many major cities white people (and other groups) with class privildge are moving into ares that were once populated soley by poor and working class groups. Their class power raises rents, taxes, te cost of housing, in ways that require the poor and working class to leave."

this one is my favorite since i know oh so many

"In a state where land is scare, poor communities are oftem 'colonized' by upwardly mobile unconviential young white from privildged class backgrounds who are willing to move into areas whites once avoided."

perhaps i should consider shifting my major or study intrest, from south africa to the good old us of a
