Thank you so much!

My god, you are twisted, too. Someone should write that for us! Gah, I squicked myself horribly trying to get inside his head, wondering what the secretary could include in the letter that would tip him over the edge into That Place.

Ok. So. Have I told you this? I tell everybody, I don't know, I guess I'm trying to convince someone to buy into it and write it, or I'm hoping it might just fall fully-formed from the heavens or something. So, here's the thing: Betty Slocombe is a metamorphmagus. She's very nearly a squib, her only real spark of magic is her hair. Sometimes she and Arabella Figg get together and drink sherry, and on those occasions when Betty spends the night, she's always gone before daylight, and afterward she makes herself scarce for a few weeks. But Arabella indulges her, and she understands what it does to a person, to stand right on the verge of magic like that, and how Betty keeps her pretentions puffed up just so she can keep from being bent double with the weight of it all. And sooner or later Betty will come around again with a clockwork mouse for Tibbles and a bottle of gin for her, and the lost feeling will go soft again for a while.

AND IT TOTALLY HAPPENED JUST LIKE THAT.

Yes! I don't know why I didn't see it before; of course Mrs. Slocombe is a metamorphmagus. And also, that is a lovely story and someone should really get to work on that as soon as possible.
