Muslim Stand Up Comedians
PBS is airing another part of their series America at a Crossroads tomorrow about Muslim Comedians in Post 9/11 America called Stand Up: Muslim American Comics Come of Age.
Check out the website. It has a bunch of clips from the comedians. Their stories are amazing. One of the women, on top of being Muslim, also has cerebal palsey and founded a charity to help people with disabilities in the Middle East. I wish I had the time to watch this. It's really great to see positive depictions of Muslims in the media. Plus! There are 2 female Muslim comedians that appear in the film!!! Strong women... veiled and unveiled who defy the stereotype of Muslim women as passive... DAMN YOU FINALS!
