I've uttered this sentiment thousands of times. I never realized it's brilliance until today.
Being raised Roman Catholic, this statement was simply a part of mass. A moment when you had the chance to stretch, shake the hand of the people around you, and giggle with your siblings and friends as you tried to crush their hands. The mandatory words that went along with this, seemingly innocuous, act were "Peace be with you". I had never thought about it, it was simply something to say during the mass.
I was struck randomly with the elegance and power of these words today. I believe to truly wish another person peace is a beautiful expression of compassion and love. So to all my friends, may peace be with you.
