Even before the new year started I was trying to get back into my old winter routine of walking the Minneapolis skyway during lunch hours. I had not been exercising much during the previous couple months.
On New Year's morning I read this
blog post by one of my oldest friends. I promptly logged on to Amazon.com and ordered the
Pedometer she recommended. It arrived last night and I have been wearing it today.
Over lunch hour I walked, as I often do, from the
Hennepin County Government Center (where I work) to the downtown
Hyatt Regency hotel, which is as far as I can currently go on the skyway, and back again. At street level this round trip is about 1.6 miles. However, the skyway twists and turns, and there is a long leg through the
Convention Center. Until today I did not know how far I was actually walking. The pedometer gave me the answer: 2.7 miles.
In other health news, yesterday I worked up the nerve to weigh myself for the first time since November. I had not gone completely to waist. My weight was only up by about 2 lbs.
