The Nuts Fall Close to the Tree

The McGillivray case is twisted like one of those macrame plant hangers the hippies used to sell. Not only do the murders go back even farther than we had suspected, which was 1977, but it turns out that the victims are all kin, not only to each other, but to our suspect Brandon Masters.
After some initial digging, we staked out the scene of the previous night's skirmish, and were rewarded with a confrontation with a demonic being who came close to taking us all down. Fortunately, we managed to drive it away, somewhat singed for the effort. As we caught our breath, we found a car in front of Alexandra Strapp's brownstone. Zayne, Ellen and I confronted its occupant, young Masters, and placed him under arrest with some exchange of gunpowder. Meanwhile, Eric and Tegan went inside, where they found Ms. Strapp being intimidated by our outsized playmate of the night before. Once we had subdued Masters and reinforced the inside team, stopping the "demonic visitor" was quick. He turned out to be one Jared Glick, a long-time employee of the Masters family.
This should have been the big payoff, but things have just become stranger and stranger. This is when we found out that the murders go back at least to 1900, and that the victims have all been female descendants of a Masters woman who married without family approval. Moreover, it appears that even Jared Glick is descended from this line.
Going back to consult further with Alexandra, we found ourselves in some kind of witchy crap storm... To Be Continued!!!
