Pardon me while I bang my head on the nearest sharp wall.
Brian is different from Bryan.
George is different from Jorge. Geoff and Jeff are different names.
Diane and Diana are NOT interchangeable. Nor are Cathy, Kathie and Kathy.
Vinny and Vinnie are different and Avie, Avy, Avi and Avey are different.
Steven, Stephen, Stephan, Stefan... all Not The Same Name.
Pay attention to how folks sign their name. Pay attention to how folks who care spell other folks' names. It's not that hard to pay enough attention and to show enough respect to get somebody's name right.
