Really? Where were you teaching? Where were you stationed? I was a JET living in Shizuoka for 3 years. I've been really missing Japan lately :(

*jaw drops, picks it up shortly after*

I was a Nova teacher in Mishima from 2005 - 2006 (before they went down the gurgler). Lived in Fuji, miss Mister Donut, mosburger & Starbucks (in Shizuoaka city - only place I could find that served a decent soy hot chocolate). Loved Sugiyama's in Numazu because they stocked cadbury chocolate & tim tams..

Awwwwww.. I miss it soooo much.. hanabi, festivals, my students, 100¥ stores, drunken karaoke nights.. even the silly suspicions of someone trying to nick my umbrella or bike if I haven't locked it up properly in front of itoyokado.. eh, I can't even spell right..

After a 5yr drought, finally going back there - just for a month, Oct-Nov - as a tourist this time; was all work for me prior.. reaaaaally looking forward to it

Uso! Maji? I was living in Nagaizumi on the Gotemba line. I was first teaching at Nagaizumi koko, and at a couple of schools in Numazu, but then Nagako closed and I was teaching at Mishima Choryou, the new school they built on the north side of Mishima Station. I just missed you! I started in 2007!
You're going for a visit? Lucky! I'm so jealous. I totally miss combinis. They're just not the same in Canada. I thought it was the funniest thing that the only place for starbucks in the area of Shiz city, and then there were like 5 around the station...awww...
