Well, here we are in sunny Saskatoon to celebrate Thanksgiving with
gamble's parents. We arrived safely yesterday evening in time for a late supper.
Scarlet was reasonably well-behaved in the car, although she went a bit stir-crazy around the fifth hour of driving. All of that pent-up energy was unleashed once she got into the house and met Prince, the family dog. He's a twelve-year-old dalmation, and usually defensive around strange dogs. Scarlet's been well-socialised, though, and seemed to take the hint quickly that he wasn't in the mood to be social. Despite his curmudgeonly ways, they appear to have adapted quite well to each other.
I got up early to join Doug (
gamble's dad) and Prince for their normal morning walk-cum-golf-practice, and that helped burn off quite a bit of Scarlet's energy too. She got to tear about the local park off leash, fetch the frisbee, chase Doug's golf balls, chase Prince, chase Xena (an athletic, ADD lab that we ran into) and generally act like a loon. She's finally lying down for a bit at home.
I've not had much chance to take photographs yet, although there will probably be more opportunities later today. It's a bit cold (around freezing), though, and so waiting until it warms up a bit might be wise. The car trip afforded a few chances to try out my 100-300mm lens, which was cool. It's reassuring to know that this lens is fast enough to take action shots in the daylight.
