It’s often useful to have an icon to lock the screen on an XP system. I know you can just hit ctrl+alt_delete and then return or windows+L, but I use an icon on other systems to lock it, so it’s easier for me to have the same mechanism on XP, so I create a shortcut with the following target:
%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation
An appropriate icon is available in the file %windir%\system32\shell32.dll
