cat leash-training experiment
week 2

current progress: leashes have been attached to subjects for 2 hour-long periods, allowing them to adjust to the weight while walking around the apartment on their own.

observations: both subjects appear to be terrified of their leashes. after initially tearing around the apartment in circles, frantically attempting to shake off the leash and causing considerable damage in the process, both subjects stood perfectly still and stared at their leashes for approximately 1.5 hours. poking, proding, offering treats, and other attempts to make them move were unsuccessful.

the next attempt to leash subject 1 resulted in subject 2 bolting for the closet and hiding. both seemed fairly traumatized by their leash experience, as illustrated below. note that subject is 1) sitting on my lap and 2) doing it without being held down. also note the lack of interest in "temptations seafood medley" crunchy-on-the-outside, moist-on-the-inside treats, usually his favorite.

problems encountered: subjects refusing to move while on the leash may make "walking" them extremely challenging.

next step: outdoors
