Reparations

May 14, 2008 23:21

Well, I'm in Suna now, helping Gaara and the others with the reparations. I just ... God. So much destruction. It's worse than any natural disaster I've ever seen. And it all could have been prevented if I hadn't been so weak. I know that nothing I say or do will be able to bring back the people who died because of Shukaku's attack, nor will I be ( Read more... )

Again, I feel like an echo, but... seriously, Jordan, don't beat yourself up too much. You're no good to anyone like that.

Besides, look at what you're planning! All that faith. If anyone can get them sorted out, it's you.

But that's just the thing ... no one really understands what I went through with Canaletto possessed my body. I ... I'm ashamed to admit it, but I didn't put up as much of a struggle as I should have. So, anything that Canaletto did while he possessed me ... it's the same as if I had done it myself.

Thanks. And it's more than just planning: I'm going to actually do something about it. Actions speak louder than words, you know.

Jordan. Coming from someone who's been possessed - long story, really, there was a living sun and some idiot mining project involved - I can tell you with some pretty good authority that it's not exactly the same.

Well, there you go, see! And, well, I'm all for the words usually. Not that I don't like actions, but I do like words as a weapon~

What? You were possessed, too? But I guess you fought against whatever it was that was trying to control you, right up until the end. You're a lot stronger than I am. I just ... wanted to escape from the reality of my responsibilities, so when Canaletto took control of my mind ... I closed my eyes and went to sleep. It was just too much of an effort for me to struggle against him.

And I've seen your words in action! I remember hearing your voice, during the battle. And afterward, when we were all fighting against Canaletto, you really ticked him off good, eh?

Yeah, a living sun. And... no, not exactly. It got control of me, I couldn't stop it. Maybe... part of me didn't want to stop it. Anyway, the point is, you shouldn't worry too much about it, Jordan. I mean, look around. Do you see anyone else doing it?

Well, irritating the bad guys is a talent of mine, if I do say so myself.

A living sun? Huh. Sounds a lot like Oban. But still ... I don't know of many others who have been possessed by someone. It's a horrible feeling of helplessness, like your soul have been utterly violated. I'm just having a hard time learning to deal with it. I don't know if I'll ever be able to get over what happened.

And a great talent, at that! You managed to distract him long enough for Kyo and Aang to get in a few good hits. Every little bit counts.

Yeah, I know.

Say, you haven't been to Oban before, have you? Well, I don't really count the time you came to rescue me. Maybe we could get together and have tea sometime?

Tea! That would be brilliant! I'd like to actually get to explore Oban when there isn't a crisis on. Do you have those cakes with the edible ball bearings on as well, or did they not get round to inventing those in your universe?

Edible ... ball bearings? I'm not sure ... (not an expert on British confections) but I can certainly try and whip something up! Say, what sort of tea do you like, anyway?

Yeah. Brilliant things. You know Earth is the only planet in the universe that's invented edible ball bearings?

Oh, I'll go for anything, me. Surprise me!

I ... did not know that. Now I definitely need to check this out!

Okay then! But I warn you, I have quite the collection of exotic teas. Growing them is one of my hobbies.

Well, you learn something new every day~

Ha ha, trust me, I've seen enough of my own universe to be prepared for the exotic.
