[Phone; Filtered from drones and the higher-ups]I really hope everyone's recovering from all the... everything. And I hope those of you who were stupid enough to fall for it are happy with yourselves. This town never, ever gives anything up so easily. They're just messing with our heads ( Read more... )

Hmhmhm. Greed and power can certainly do things to twist a man, don't you think? But when your own life is on the line here, do you honestly think many people would be rational?

They can. But I don't approve of it.

What other choice do we have but to be rational? Getting stupid and emotional does us no good.

[There's a touch of hypocrisy there, although Ema herself doesn't realize it.]

Yet the results has shown how many people had let their emotions get the best over them even in a logical situation. A very human thing to do by nature.

But we live, we learn and we go on in life hoping that there is a lesson that was discovered through all of the mess.

... that doesn't mean it's the best course of action, letting ourselves get carried away. I mean, look what happened a couple of weeks ago.

I can't imagine what lesson there is to be learned besides 'don't trust Mayfield.' Which, honestly, they should already know.

Of course it wasn't the best course of action, but it's a natural thing to happen. Things like that cannot be controlled just by anyone unless given very strong discipline as you would like them to be.

Hm... perhaps that everyone has a weakness that can be exploited one form or another. Loyalties were tested, decisions were made that had heavy consequences one way or another and what else was there to do at the time when you're in a state of panic and confusion? There is hardly ever time to calm down and relax.

Hmph.

What do you propose we do, then? What we've been doing isn't working--we're not learning anything and we're not any closer to getting out of here.

Hm... you wouldn't like my advise. Because I have found happiness in this place that I wouldn't get if I were to ever return home.

You're one of those people who want to stay?

[Amazingly enough, it's not a loaded question.]
