[Ema's still shaken from the whole angels thing (and the uncomfortable night she spent with a certain Edward Nigma while spirited away to wherever that was), but an opportunity like this doesn't come up every day. [The male voice is low, cool, and deliberate. He sounds more curious than challenging.]

What makes you think it's an opportunity to do more than drive in circles?
You don't believe the information that's been put forward so far? Or you know something more than they did?

[socklessliving has the posts but this guy has the icons and editing, for the time being.]

Precedent. The last time people were allowed to leave the town, it lead to a nightmare for those who ended up trapped outside the town... and from there, we learned an awful lot.

I'm sure the people who have said they've found nothing have found nothing. But I doubt there's nothing to find; we just have to be patient and thorough.

Patient and thorough... yes.

It sounds like you're willing to endure a lot for information. What did you learn?

What did I learn? How do you mean--my training?

[A soft sigh.]

No, you said that the last time people were allowed to leave the town, the results enabled you to learn an awful lot, although it was difficult for the people who were trapped outside.

Oh.

We learned a little about Jane Smith's actual identity, Samantha Achewood. And we learned about Richard Grey, although I'm not sure if we've learned anything about him since...?

That's just off the top of my head, though. I'm pretty sure we--well, they, since I arrived while people were trapped in Westport, the next town over--learned other things as well. There are compilations of the evidence we've gathered thus far.

I see. Do you know where I might be able to access this information? At the moment, these names mean very little to me. Samantha Achewood... the bakery? And the liquor store is Grey. But I'm not aware of significance other than that.

How long have you been here, Miss...?

[It's a dual question. Most people here must feel adrift after their abductions, confused and, depending on their own level of inner strength, depressed. Personality would dictate whether they sank into acceptance and inaction or openly rebelled. He's hoping that the woman he's speaking to will understand that, as a new arrival, he's eager for knowledge, yet he can't absolutely trust anything he's told until others have confirmed it.]

Skye. Ema Skye. And I'll have been here a year this coming May. [That's... a depressing fact to face.]

I have a lot of information recorded in my personal belongings. Klavier Gavin and maybe Major General Armstrong also have records. If the Major General doesn't have the information--she might not, since she was droned for awhile before returning here--she'll be able to tell you where you can get it.

[She understands that trust isn't immediate, especially after everything that's happened to her since last fall.]

Thank you. I'll make a note of those names.

Do people often lose things when they're--droned?

[His hesitation is brief, but it's there. Not much frightens him, but the idea of losing control of himself, of his mind being wiped clean or overtaken... he wouldn't say he fears it so much as that it's intolerable, unconscionable.]

[Ema doesn't call attention to the hesitation she hears on his end of the line. She understands; droning freaks her the hell out.]

It depends on the circumstances. Sometimes people are droned and come back to themselves in the same place, in which case they generally keep their stuff. Sometimes people are droned and come back to themselves in a different place--sometimes with their memories of Mayfield intact, sometimes not--in which case they generally don't. And sometimes, people don't come back at all.

[There's a long, uncomfortable pause.]

From what I understand, the Major General left and is back in a new house. I'm not sure how much of what she had before has been recovered.
