[Background]

Even from a young age, Roy was determined to help people. He sought after a great mentor, and his search ended on Riza Hawkeye's father. Although Roy attempted to prove himself to him, the man refused to tell him anything important until he had become trustworthy in his eyes. Unfortunately, he died before Roy could learn everything he needed to know-- but fortunately enough for Roy, the father had left the information with his daughter in the shape of a tattoo on her back. Eventually, Riza acknowledged Roy's honest intentions and she shared the information with him willingly.

It wasn't long after Roy became a state alchemist that he was called off to fight a war alongside the other alchemists and the military. The state used alchemy to gain momentum in the war, using the alchemists against people instead of for the people. Roy was both disgusted and disturbed at allowing himself to be used as a weapon, and he would carry the guilty conscience of a man who had murdered innocent lives for many years to come. It was during the war that, after talking with Maes Hughes, the two would form a pact and send Roy to the top, making him a Fuhrer. The two have been close friends since, and Hughes has kept his word by forming rumors, pushing good information about Mustang and constantly helped his friend gain promotional work with inside information. Choosing a team of subordinates he trusted with his life (Hughes, Fuery, Falman, Havoc, Breda, and Hawkeye). He then pulled Hawkeye aside and ordered that, should he ever wander from the path of helping people, she was to shoot him in the head.

The death of Hughes was a hard blow for Roy to face. It's no surprise that after a long history of friendship with the man, Roy shed a few tears at his comrades funeral. Roy even admitted to briefly considering taboo in a private conversation with Riza, claiming that he understood the feelings the Elric brothers must have felt had when they had attempted to transmute their mother.

When the funeral was over, Roy instantly delved into finding clues and answering questions on what happened and why Hughes had tried so hard to get into contact with him moments before his death. With only the words 'The Military is in danger', Roy set off to find the missing pieces to a puzzle Hughes had left for him despite a majority of his men being silenced by Fuhrer Bradley. Within minutes, Roy had the basic idea of what he was looking for-- he had recognized that his men had been silenced by someone of a higher rank, and from the brief talk with Armstrong he had figured out that there was more than one killer, and that the Philosophers Stone linked into everything somehow.

His goals had from then on intertwined; he vowed that once transfered to Central, Roy would investigate the officials ranked higher than him and he would avenge Hughes' death whilst still walking the path towards being Fuhrer. The military soon closed the case on Hughes' death, arresting Marie Ross as his killer-- but Roy, investigating the case further in secret, knew that she was innocent. With help from Barry the Chopper, Roy used alchemy to fake Ross's death and helped her escape. Following those events, Roy discovered some key information that lead him to an abandoned laboratory once again alongside Barry the Chopper. A Homunculus, Lust, ambushes them and proceeds to confront both Havoc and Roy; they both rise to her bait and begin fighting. Their brawl ended in disaster as Lust shot a carefully aimed attack straight through Havoc's spine-- she left them both to bleed to death and instead went to capture the other intruders. Roy soon caught up with her chasing Hawkeye after closing his wound with his own fire power. He sent wave after wave of explosive fire in her direction, claiming to have 'almost fainted several times'. With his attacks relentless and powerful, Lust's philosophers stone reaches its limits and is unable to regenerate her, rendering her dead. Later, he arranges transport for Ed, Al, Hawkeye, Dr. Knox, Lin, a severely injured Lan Fan and Gluttony (who was tied up). Gluttony soon breaks free and Roy begrudgingly manages to escape with Hawkeye, leaving Ed, Al and Lin to fight him.

Roy soon discovered one fatal truth; that Fuhrer Bradley was the Homunculus Wrath. Immediately after he uncovered that, he worked towards trying to expose him to the top echelons of the military. It was an attempt in vain, as not only were they in on it, they condoned it. Finally, Roy would understand Hughes' last words as a literal message as opposed to a warning of an incoming enemy-- the military itself was in danger.

Unfortunately, this alerts Fuhrer Bradley to the threat Roy had become, and in attempts to quiet him, he strips him of his trusted subordinates and ships them off to different stations, with Hawkeye to take the place of King Bradley's own assistant. Although he now stood mostly on his own, his desire to discover the truth of the military had stayed strong. The difference was that he couldn't trust the people around him so it left him doing work on his own whilst attempting to remain inconspicuous. Luckily enough, Roy would find the benefits of having Hawkeye Bradley's personal aide, as she had constant inside information and the two had managed to work out a code and so Roy remained up to date with their plans.

Later, Roy is contacted by Major General Olivia Armstrong through a flower seller. To obtain the information he needed, he had to buy all of her flowers. She claimed to have served the Armstrong family for generations, revealed that Olivia was intending for the 'sword' of East Area troops, who are under Mustang's command, to join the 'shield' of Briggs mountain range troops to protect him. He wanted Mustang's cooperation, and Roy agreed. Finally, through their coded system, Roy found out that Bradley's child was in fact Pride, the original Homunculus, and he sent this information onto Olivia. He then finally meets up with his trusted subordinates, and the four attack the military, intending to wound and not kill (which is successful). Unfortunately, they discover that Fuhrer Bradley is 'gone', and quickly make their way back to Central.

Whilst Roy and Hawkeye met up with Edward, the others sent out messages throughout the radio transmissions that the upper brass of the military is heavily corrupted, although they leave any information about Homunculus out, so that their words are more widely believed. When they come across Envy, Edward, Mei, Scar and the chimera travel to find Father, which left Roy and Hawkeye to battle against him. After some questions, Envy revealed that he was Hughes' killer-- Roy loses his temper and instantly begins exacting his revenge with aimed bursts of flame. Envy quickly realizes that Mustang is more than talented enough to murder him easily, and he attempts to escape, whilst Roy orders Hawkeye to follow the others and leave him with Envy. Hawkeye ignores his order, following Roy which soon leads to Envy realizing her presence. In attempts to deceive her, he switches into Mustang ultimately to kill her by hesitance, much like Hughes-- though this time Hawkeye half expects it to be Envy and claims, in order to trap Envy, that Roy usually calls her Riza when the two are alone. Envy falls for it and Riza instantly begins shooting, which held Envy off until he gains the upper hand and ensnares her with his arms.

When he's just about to kill her, Roy bursts in and burns him alongside a warning that Riza is one of his dearest subordinates. He then burned him again, this burn sending Envy into his ugly parasitic form. As Roy readied himself to finish Envy off, Hawkeye abruptly stood and held her gun against his head. Despite Roy's determination, Hawkeye refuses to lower her gun and implores him to see reason. Instead, his temper rages and he, in turn, refuses to give up vengeance. After Ed and Scar arrive, Ed quickly uses his alchemy to capture Envy and Roy immediately advances on Ed, demanding he return Envy to him. Ed refuses, and Roy threatens to literally burn his arm off, and whilst Ed accepts his challenge he asks Roy to look at himself and asks if he 'thinks he can run a country looking like that'. Roy's anger subsided slightly when Ed continued to remind him of his goal and his ambition.

Roy then screams about his ambition and everything he'd already worked so hard for, ending on Hughes and avenging his death. It was only when Riza spoke up and told him that she understood and that begged him 'don't go where I can't follow' that Roy snaps at her and told her she should have shot him, following his statement with a question of if she were to shoot, and he were to die, what would she do? She told him she would die with him. Still frustrated, he sent a fireball at the wall and finally, when his anger subsides completely, he reveals that he couldn't lose her either. He looks back on his actions and apologizes to everyone and for forcing Riza to pull her gun out on him. He would then sink to his knees in defeat, and Riza would follow suit.

Roy watched Envy commit suicide and ended up remarking that Envy was 'cruel'. With Envy dead, they decided that they had to keep going. So Ed, Roy, Hawkeye and Scar travel through a large tunnel and when it ended, they were greeted by an old man who claims to have made Father. The old man sends a continuous wave of dummy Homunculus to wear the gang down further, and ultimately ends up capturing Roy and demands him to open the gate. He refuses, which leads the the slitting of Riza Hawkeye's throat. Believing her dead, he screamed out her rank with shock.

[Personality]

Titled the Flame Alchemist, Roy stays true to his namesake and wields the power of fire with his bare hands. Like fire, he is adaptable, stubborn and quick to anger. Although he still remains suave, collected and calm under most circumstances. Roy Mustang gives new meaning to the word 'cool'-- at least, until he gets angry. True to his alchemical skills, Roy is quick to anger and as soon as his temper flares, quick thinking and logic are quickly abandoned in favor of brute strength. It takes a big man to admit his flaws and accept them; Roy has done both, going as far as to keep someone (Riza Hawkeye) with him constantly to balance out his quick temper and supply the situation with a new pair of eyes and calmed consideration.

Not only is Roy a state alchemist, he's the youngest and most ambitious colonel the state have ever received. Refusing to sit by idly, Roy one day hopes to be the fuhrer; a dream he shared with one Maes Hughes. It was through his own will and with Hughes help that he gained the title of Colonel, and although he was proud of where he was, he simply wouldn't rest until he reached the top.

Roy is a very loyal and trustworthy man. Although he originally comes off as someone who is obsessed with furthering his career and his own needs, his interest is on a much larger scale than simple self gain. He constantly keeps a close watch on all of his men and should they need it, he would come to their aid without a second thought. He's very thankful for the support his men have offered him and instead of taking it within his stride, he makes sure everyone realizes that the feeling is mutual.

He'll put his life on the line to protect his subordinates; if he knows they're in trouble, regardless of his own injuries, he will do anything in his power to get to them and protect them. He has a soft heart, which is both a help and a hindrance. He refuses to abandon men that have been with his cause-- even if they're paralyzed from the waist down and even if they themselves had briefly given up on life. Just like he knows they won't give up on him, he knows he won't give up on them.

He's very much aware of his good looks, and it's heavily implied that Roy is no stranger to attracting a ladies attention. Definitely one for playing the field and certainly not interested in a devoted relationship, Roy enjoys flexibility of being able to drop a woman whenever he needs to, be it due to work or other, more shallow reasons.

[Abilities]

Roy is a powerful alchemist. He didn't get to where he is by twiddling his thumbs and hoping for a lucky break; he pushed himself to the best of his abilities and forced his way through the military. He's ambitious, proud and intelligent.

He once used gloves that bore the alchemical symbol for fire, but when his gloves were water damaged, he discarded them and he acted on impulse and carved the symbol directly into his hand.

Roy is ambidextrous. He uses his left hand for precision attacks, and his right for large explosions. He also uses his alchemy to win dates; after pinpointing a certain woman, he thins the oxygen around her to the point where she becomes dizzy. Just before she falls over from lack of oxygen, Roy swoops in, catches her, and proceeds to sweep her off of her feet. All he asks in return for his heroic stand is a simple meal.~

MINISKIRTS!

Also this.

[Sample post]

"LIEUTENANT!" It was loud, panicked and shrill. It was a call he knew for certain that would go unanswered. He felt two pairs of hands disappear, his arms instantly lurching forward to catch the ground before he fell face first onto it. He jumped up, twisting this way and that, his hands poised and ready for any on coming threats of danger. His eyes frantically searched for an image of Riza that confirmed her current state, and instead, he was greeted with nothing. Silence. There was no blood on the floor, no scorch marks-- not even any signs of a struggle-- there was nothing. He spun round as he took in his new scenery and frowned deeply, his limbs heavy and his head filled with fog. He could feel his temper rise, a fresh wave of denial washing over him as his eyes continued to stare that the spot she was only seconds prior. As he straightened up he let out a low growl, "is this some kind of a trick?"

"What the hell is this!?" He yelled out, his arms finally lowering, though he stayed on guard. He continued to look around expectantly before simply allowing himself to fall to his knees and slump forward. He felt a vague, yet familiar sensation of nausea, though it soon quelled as he closed his eyes.

But the image of his first lieutenant's throat being slit kept replaying over and over in his mind's eye. He let his hands clench with sorrow, guilt, anger, resentment, hatred, loss, denial-- a mixture of emotions he knew all too well. The last emotion he felt was one that stuck with him; inferiority.

He couldn't protect her.

[Which rule was your favorite and why?] I would say the pregnancy one, but it means I don't get to see how Roy would react if he got someone pregnant. It would be hilarious, btw. 8(
[Any questions?] DO YOU THINK HAWKEYE SHOULD WEAR A MINISKIRT? Y/Y/MFY?
