Podfic Recommendations, part: the first of many

Mar 15, 2014 17:38

I've been mainlining podfic for the past two weeks at my new job, trying not to smirk at the computer and occassionally desperately checking that my headphones are plugged in. Below are recs, as promised!

But first: What audio app do you guys use to listen to podfic and/or podcasts? I downloaded Mortplayer Audio Books but I can't get it to ( Read more... )

recs, j2, podfic, spn

Look at you, all podficcing away at your gainful employment. Your life is very together.

This is an entirely obvious rec, but I enjoy candle_beck's reading of her own stuff, especially Last Day on Earth? I think it's called, the one that's based on the Simpsons thing with the deadly sushi.

Funny you should mention that! I was going to rec about five c_b fic but the links no longer work. Luckily I got a chance to listen to all of hers last week.

I'm not sure! Her reading is super great, though. And I love how, after this beautiful, heart-achey reading, she ends it with a cute, "The end!"

The links I checked do indeed seem to all be gone. How sad. Between that and the disappearance of the images in kroki_refur's picspams, I feel like a civilization is crumbling around me.

Oh great! Ok, I'll add those to my next reclist then!

Hey, geuse, do you download audiofic archive podfic directly to your phone? If so, how do you unzip them?

Ah, thanks! But no worries, I'll just drag them over onto my phone. It's more like, when I haven't planned ahead and want to listen to something on a plane or something, but I can always download from a comm anyway.

A file manager app should be able to take care of the unzipping (e.g. Astro File Manager). I did have some trouble with a few of the files applegeuse sent me, but for the most part, I can unzip files from the Audiofic Archive or Mediafire (and other hosting sites) without any issues.

I use Mortplayer Audio Books as well and sometimes the folder automatically updates itself after I add new podfics, and sometimes it doesn't. /o\ Pressing "reload folder data" seems to work though! Also, idk if you already know this, but if you have .m4b files, you can change the extension from m4b to m4a (you can do this using a file manager app) and Mortplayer will be able to play it properly. :>

Ok, cool, I really like Mortplayer, so I'm glad to hear I can fix that one issue. And thank you so much for telling me how to unzip things. I knew there had to be a way! You are a god among fish!

Thank you! I'm glad to hear those are still accessible, though I'm a little worried that she's disappeared so completely. I hope it's just that she's having a totally awesome real life.
