U-uhm...! I'm sorry... I really don't know where I am! I thought I was in Template, and I think I am in Template, but... but... I... I don't know if it is Template...!! Can anyone direct me to the correct one, please?

... Also, um, if you don't mind me asking; where did all this snow come from?

template, ... what?, arrival

Really? Are you some kind of magicians?

... Oh. I-I guess that's okay.

Ah, well, magic is just another name for science, so sure! I'm the Doctor, by the way. Lovely to meet you. I'm glad you enjoy the snow.

Yes, science sounds logical, too. Excuse me for saying so, but I just don't really understand how two people could do that all on their own...! It's amazing!

Ah...! It's nice to meet you too, Doctor-san! I'm Sumeragi Subaru. [bows low several times in quick succession]

Ahh, well. It's not too hard, actually. We use whatever parts we have and just change things around. We used to do it all the time back in school to get out of classes or inspections.

Lovely to meet you, Subaru! [nods his head 'cause that's the closest he'll get to bowing] Japanese, then? Lovely country.

Still, it makes you like gods in a way, to be able to do something like that! [beams at him, then quickly regains his composure] ... Sorry... if that comment was out of line...

Oh, yes. I thought I was living in Template City until now, which has been called Tokyo by some... but... it seems to be different now.

Gods, eh? Wow, Doctor, I think I'm starting to like this kid~ Hello, Subaru, it's a pleasure to meet you~ [tips an imaginary hat to him]

Hm, well, multiple universes isn't uncommon. [taps fingers on chin in thought] The fact that they're all called Template, well, I imagine there is a reason that such a thing would stay the same across parallel universe, don't you think, Doctor? The differences between several of these Templates are grave enough that you'd imagine their origins would severely narrow down the chances of such a name arising, rather than in highly similar parallel worlds, where the chances of similar names is almost promised.

Mm, well, this Template business could span across billions of parallel worlds, honestly. Although this is a very Earth-like place and I can't remember any Earth colonies called 'Template.' We must be in an entirely different parallel universe. [scratches his head] Or, hm...perhaps not even parallel universes. They could all exist in this one...

Would that make you... um, Master-san, then? People keep bringing up Doctor-san and you... I mean, if you are the Master-san they're talking about. But it's nice to meet you, nonetheless! [smiles and bows politely]

Ah, multiple universes? ... Nee-san has things like that in her science fiction books. So it's really possible for there to more than one...?

Yes~ I am the Master. Well, one of us. One of my past selves is also here~ You're very polite, aren't you? Good. Manners have been lacking in modern children. Assuming you're 'modern.' You could be not modern. You could be highly futuristic or horrible out-dated. Depends on one's relative position in time and space, now doesn't it?

Not just possible; necessary, and part of the very fabrics of the universes themselves. Temporal mechanics would be a very sorry field without them.

... There are two of you? ... Oh! Um, well, I... I try to be polite, I suppose... And I think I'm modern. Maybe. Um, well, it was the year 1991 before I came here; please don't tell me it's a different year now, too...

R-really? I didn't know that...! So... you're saying people couldn't travel through time without these other dimensions?

It's apparently not to uncommon here, though I believe this one comes from my lifetime. And hm, well, last year I was in was in the twenty-first century, C.E.~ I haven't a clue what year it is according to this Template's calendar.

Oh, well, noo, not impossible, but they certain wouldn't use the same mechanics they use now. The Matrix and the Eye of Harmony and all of that, they rather serve as a sort of parallel universe themselves, recording the original realities and permitting knowledge of those realities when realities are changed. Awfully convenient, and quite useful for a fair number of paradoxes.

... [lost him somewhere after "The Matrix"] ... Um... well, people have been wanting to invent time travel for a long time, but I wonder if they know any of that...? It all sounds pretty confusing to me, I'm afraid...

masteronhigh October 12 2007, 02:35:41 UTC
Oh, well, most attempts at time travel were removed by the Celestial Intervention Agency, or by the Time Lords themselves.

glovedonmyouji October 12 2007, 04:27:12 UTC
That's... um. Wow...!! [he just smiles, quite sincerely]

[laughs] Well, not entirely. Time Lords are often called 'gods'. But no worries about watching what you say. It's always fun to show off a bit.

Tokyo! Mm, I see. Some people do claim to be from Template. It's never this one, though. That's interesting.
