Memorial Day weekend was overall great. No complaints. Minimal traffic driving to Ocean City, since I left early on Saturday and know all the back roads to take (I rarely stay on a highway for too long). Even though the weather was crappy that one day, I got to hold Belle a lot and stare at her little square head and compacted features. We also celebrated my dad's birthday (he's 63!) and watched sport-centric films, which are my mom's favorite. First we watched 43, and then 61. Haha. Jersey numbas.
Here are a few from the weekend:
My dad and Mirabelle. Square heads unite!
Sunday evening Rick and I met up with friends at Morgan's Pier in Philly. It's a great place. All outside. But...always crowded during the afternoon, evening and night hours, unless it's during the week when we all work. Plus the music is played way too loudly, so we have to shout. No fun! Thankfully we stalked a table and played this card game called "Stupid" which I've always known to be called "Bullshit." It was a lot of fun, especially with 8 people, but I got tired FAST and ended up leaving after 2.5 hours.
Evidence of fun being had:
Walter has been waking me up around 6am every morning now. I want to smack him. This is usually what I see when I look for the source of the single bark. How can I even be upset with this adorable creature?? It's tough.
Then I go out in the living room to have coffee and suddenly he's all chill and quite and minds his p's and q's. In the end, Walter gets what he wants, which is just someone awake that he can lay near.
Speaking of laying near people, Rick and I are sitting out on the mid-deck more often. At first Rick was weary of allowing Walter out there without his leash, but of course I was like "he will be fiiiiiine" and, guess what, he was! So we sit out here as a family and enjoy the pre-summer weather before it becomes too hot for Walter to bear. It was around 85 that day, but low humidity, so he was a very happy pup.
Last night I woke up to this picture of Mirabelle, which I need to share. Her eyes are getting lighter and lighter. Paula and I think she will have a very similar color to our eyes. Her hair is quite different than when Paula and I were babies. We had very blonde hair. Belle has strawberry blonde, which is just so pretty.
And here is a quick photo of what my life looks like this very minute. Walter dissecting another tennis ball, which I allow, since it keeps him quiet.
